**Job description**:
The Department for Transport is made up of the central Department (DfTc) and five Executive Agencies - the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency; the Vehicle Certification Agency; the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency; and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. We work with our agencies and partners to support the transport network that helps the UK’s businesses and gets people and goods travelling around the country. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move.

This role forms part of the Workplace Adjustment team who continually assess and improve ways of working and processes with regard to the DfTc Workplace Adjustments service offer. You will be part of a small team who provide advice on maintaining best practice for the recruitment, retention and deployment of staff with a disability.

This is an interesting role that would be perfect for someone who is empathetic, passionate about delivering a great service and who can drive improvements across the workplace adjustments service.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Continually assess and improve ways of working and processes with regard to the DfTc Workplace Adjustments service offer.
- Building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders with differing agendas and priorities.
- Analysing and providing regular Workplace Adjustments data internally and to Stakeholders, the Cabinet Office and the Civil Service Employment Policy Unit as required (including budgetary/financial data).
- Liaising and consulting with other specialists such as Health and Safety representatives, Mental Health Partners, Occupational Health, the Business Disability. Forum and Civil Service Workplace Adjustments.
- Work closely with the Department’s active staff networks and Trades Unions as critical friends to the department.
- Act as a SME for the DfT HR Advice team to support the operational delivery of Workplace Adjustments for DfTc.

**Person specification**:
**About you**:
We are looking for someone who has exceptional communication skills and can express themselves in a confident and concise manner with colleagues at all levels. You will represent the department both professionally and clearly, ensuring key messages are delivered to both internal and external stakeholders in a timely fashion. A strong communicator, you have the confidence to back your own ideas and opinions with the ability to explain your thought process in a clear and effective way.

Organisational skills are pivotal to this role and you will have the ability to deliver against multiple objectives, whilst maintaining the highest standards. You work well with colleagues at all levels, and see the importance of building effective working relationships both within and outside of your immediate team.

You will be someone who can express themselves with sensitivity and empathy while providing accurate advice to those protected under the Equality Act.

You will currently hold a CIPD qualification or have the willingness to work towards it when in post.

**Additional Information**:
A minimum of 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.

Occasional travel to other DfT offices may be required on an ad hoc basis. This may include overnight stays.
