A large general insurer with a household name is looking for an International Financial Controller to oversee the international finance team which covers mainland Europe. This is a high-profile role where senior stakeholder management is important as wellas the ability to lead and direct a large team. The team is primarily based in Spain so you must be willing to travel occasionally to forge strong relationships with your senior staff. In this role your key objectives will be:

- Ownership of the management accounting and month-end process for the European Business. Responsible for maintenance of effective control environment and integrity of the balance sheet.
- Take a lead role in driving process and control improvements and the automation of manual processes.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly reporting pack for the CFO. Providing accurate commentary against budget and prior year performance.
- Key role in the annual budget and re-forecast process, responsible for signing off the balance sheet and cash position
- Take a lead role in critical Finance Projects, including the implementation of IFRS 17 and a new general ledger.
- Building strong relationships across the business, including with FP&A, Underwriting, Client Management, Service teams so that you can represent International Finance interests in Group wide projects, including the implementation of new strategies and onboardingof new clients
- Building strong relationships with external audit team to complete Group and local audits to tight deadlines
- Ensuring the International segment is compliant with all Group policies and relevant technical accounting pronouncements and standards
