About Energy, Emissions and Sustainability Team, DIO Strategy & Plans (S&P) Capability

Within Capability, the Energy and Emission Sustainability (EE&S) Team is a leader in driving climate change and sustainability activity in DIO. Sustainability and Net Zero carry a high profile in the organisation, and the team have a key role in deploying the MOD Climate Change and Sustainability Strategic Approach (Epochs 1 - 3) to 2050, forthcoming MOD Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy, and getting the department on the pathway to achieve the Greening Government Commitment targets.

The EE&S team is a key leader in driving climate change & sustainability activity in DIO. The team provides oversight, coherence, and co-ordination of the delivery of sustainability activity with key customers from across both DIO and the wider defence infrastructure enterprise.
The post provides excellent exposure into the core of Sustainability activities across the business and also exposure across a number of TLB’s with an opportunity to build a fantastic network. Summary of the Role

The post holder will be an integral part of the Energy, Emissions and Sustainability (EES) team and will lead on developing and managing the Defence Approach to CC&S activities. The objective of this team is to develop a strategic Sustainability Defence Approach across the defence estate. The Sustainability Defence Approach will align with TLB and UK ambitions, targets and policy and map out the activity required for current, near and future planning. It will provide the thought leadership and horizon scanning to identify emerging technologies, pilot and research opportunities and the prioritisation of activities. You will be responsible for translating the Defence targets and ambitions for infrastructure into clear deliverables and work to understand how to best prioritise that activity, ensuring we are scoping the future possibilities to allow us to make provisions in our expert advisor role.

**Defence Approach (60%)**

Oversee the development of the infrastructure Defence Approach to CC&S challenges, ensuring a programme of activity is prioritised to deliver this

Scope future requirements and draw in expert advice to manage this

Translate Defences infrastructure targets and ambitions into deliverables

Responsible for ensuring successful delivery, and understand the multiple individual projects within the Defence Approach

Lead on the identification of where there are dependencies on the development of thought leadership projects

Responsible for ensuring the implementation of activity is disseminated to the correct areas across Defence, driving this forward and tracking this

Oversee the relationship with the coherence team to capture activity and track the progress

Translate information and requirements from across the business into Business outputs

Work with and support external experts, and manage tasking linked directly to focused area of responsibility

Develop business cases and statement of requirements associated to area of focus and take ownership from conception to completion
