Paramedic
As one of our Paramedics, you will often be the first healthcare professional to arrive on scene at emergency and non-emergency medical incidents and it will be your responsibility to treat and transport patients. When accompanied by a less clinically qualified colleague, such as an Ambulance Support Worker (ASW), you will be expected to assume clinical primacy, provide clinical support and take the lead.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is now recruiting for Paramedics and Newly Qualified Paramedics, or students due to register who are looking to start their career within the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at the following base stations: Ingleton, Settle, Grassington, Skipton and South Kirby. We will support you to complete the Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) Programme that will help you to make the transition into the paramedic profession.
Please note Band 6 is applicable for Fully Qualified Paramedics only. Those on or due to start an NQP programme will be graded at Band 5.
Our Paramedics provide assessment of patients and plan and implement their care and treatment. This will include handling and administering drugs and performing invasive or surgical procedures where you are appropriately trained to do so. You will make potentially life-saving decisions about patient care such as, which destination or alternative service is most appropriate or what pre-hospital treatment is required.
You will have the ability to organise and manage the scene of a complex incident during initial stages until a Manager/Commander arrives. This could involve organising or managing patients, bystanders or other responding services with you taking the lead.
Our Trust values are really important to us, you’ll need to be able to understand them and why they’re important, and subscribe to our behaviours to really succeed in your role at YAS.
**What we can offer you**:
Relocation package to move into Yorkshire (if you live more than 50 miles away)
Great staff networks, including LGBTQ+, Disability and BME
Flexible working including part-time hours, job shares and flexible hours.
27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service plus bank holiday entitlement
Contributory Pension
NHS Discounts
Car lease and other salary sacrifice schemes
Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service
In addition to the above, as part of our newly designed Workforce Career Development Plan, there are various positions within the Trust that the Paramedic role can develop into which include, Critical Care Paramedic, Urgent Care Paramedic, Advanced Paramedic, and other supervisory/managerial opportunities.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.
We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.
**Our values**: Compassion, One Team, Integrity, Innovation, Empowerment and Resilience are at the heart of all we do.
Undertake the full range of paramedic duties in line with the Trust’s operational instructions.
