The post holder will provide information technology resources within Pathology IT, the post holder will be required to:

- Maintain and monitor the Laboratory Information & Management System (LIMS).

Provide comprehensive admin support.

Maintain and develop the change management processes.

Support the production of statistics and other IT generated reports.

Update the QMS in accordance to UKAS standards.

Log calls with suppliers to ensure IT issues are resolved.

Support the Senior Pathology IT & Data officers.

Other general admin duties.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team for the above role within Pathology IT.

The role is key to help maintain and support the pathology lab and staff.

The role will encompass the day to day administration support of all areas within as well as outside pathology that interact with the service.

Maintain administration support for the Pathology IT team.

Administer minor changes in the Laboratory Information & Management System (LIMS).

Provide comprehensive admin support.

Maintain and develop the change management process.

Provide first line contact with users to triage calls and process requests.

Communication with Digital Services and all suppliers to Pathology IT.

Maintain quality documentation in the departments QMS.

Other general administration duties and training.

Pathology provides a high quality and comprehensive diagnosis, monitoring and disease management service to our clinical colleagues and their patients.

Our analytical and advisory services cover all aspects of Pathology, which includes research and development, teaching and audit.

Our Pathology Services are provided from City Hospital and QMC. The service is heavily reliant on IT and it is the task of Pathology IT to maintain 24/7/365 operation.

The PathIT team are based at both sites and offer support, help and guidance to service users who are experiencing IT issues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the pathology system complies with all relevant policies and legislation and implement agreed policies and procedures.

Control access and security on the system in line with local and national codes of practice.

Assist in the production, and be responsible for the maintenance and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and policies used in the maintenance of the IT System.

Ensure that such I.T. records as are necessary for system maintenance and accreditation purposes are kept.

Provide a point of contact for pathology users to contact pathology IT.

Carry out general clerical duties as required.

Respond to enquiries from service users, and departmental colleagues.

Work flexibly and undertake other duties commensurate with grade as required.

Experience

Essential criteria
- Recent administrative / secretarial experience in an office environment.

Desirable criteria
- Experience within a hospital or laboratory office.

Education

Essential criteria
- GCSE's English Language and Maths

Desirable criteria
- Graduate or Clerical and administrative qualifications to RSAII or equivalent.

Other requirements spcific to the role (e.g. be able to drive or work shifts)

Essential criteria
- Flexible approach to working hours to help cover leave and sickness

Desirable criteria
- Manage and maintain the change management process and ensure changes are documented and recorded according to policy.

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Good customer care and interpersonal skills required.

- Experience of communicating with a wide variety of staff, clients or patients by various means.

- Able to plan own work, meet agreed targets on an ongoing basis.
