**The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required**:
- To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries.
- To maintain good communication with the wider AOS community
- To work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.
- To work autonomously to assess patients who are admitted as an emergency as a consequence of their cancer or treatment, recognising those who should be escalated to a senior member of the team or who require consultant review.
- Support patients with a new diagnosis of cancer and support the CUP MDT
- To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients.
- To contribute to training and education within specialist area and to provide training on Acute Oncology to the wider hospital team.
- To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in research activities.
- To act as a visible role model and expert practitioner.
To provide cross cover to the AOS team at Barnet when necessary
