This role is to assist an established Donation Centre team with the day to day operations of the Centre which is located at Fieldhouse Way, S4 7SF. You must be enthusiastic, motivated and be a team player with a can-do attitude. Experience in a retail environment with some managerial responsibilities and an ability to form good relationships with colleagues and volunteers is essential in the role.

This role will support the retail department in its endeavors to raise funds for St Luke's.

Responsibilities will include processing stock donations, providing excellent customer service, and helping to process gift aid to maximise sales. In addition to this, you would be a key holder, and when necessary be responsible for opening and closing the Donation Centre.

A good knowledge of health & safety and an ability to identify potential risks is desirable to maintain safe ways of working.

Flexibility is essential for this post as there will be weekend and possibly evening work required on occasions.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. Stock

1.1. Sorting and processing donated goods including safe and efficient storage of both new donations and sorted stock. The role will require manual work, which includes moving stock in line with manual handling guidelines.

1.2. Ensuring that the speed, accuracy, and quality of the stock processing and deliveries meet the needs of the retail chain.

1.3. To ensure that the Donation Centre has sufficient stock to supply the retail chain at all times including the monitoring of stock turn around/stock control.

1.4. Help coordinate the ethical disposal of waste materials and unauthorised stock.

1.5. Facilitating the required Gift Aid process where appropriate.

1.6. Identifying unique items and passing them to the E-Trading and/or and vintage team

1.7. Assisting with the co-ordination of van collections and deliveries to ensure these are carried out efficiently and within the agreed timescales.

2. Premises/Health and Safety/Security

2.1 Contribute to a secure, safe and healthy working environment at all times including daily checks and documented monthly audits.

2.2 Ensuring that daily floor walks for the Donation Centre are completed to ensure fire routes are not blocked, that the area is in a well maintained state, that there are no health and safety breaches, and that the ambience of the centre as a whole upholds the high standards St Luke’s expects of all its buildings.

2.3 To check that all premises are secure and report any concerns to the Donation Centre Manager, St Luke’s Maintenance Team and Head of Retail.

2.4 To inform the Donation Centre Manager and relevant bodies where there has been, or there is suspicion of a breach of any security procedures.

2.5 Ensure the ground floor, all offices and welfare areas are clean and tidy at all times and that goods are stored in a presentable and safe manner.

2.6 To hold keys for the Donation Centre, and be responsible for opening and closing the premises for trading hours on occasions.

2.7 To undertake training to become both a First Aider and Fire Marshal and to ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and contribute to the fire evacuation drills twice a year.

2.8 To work closely with the Donation Centre Management Team and St Luke’s Team to ensure that all required maintenance issues are addressed in a safe and timely manner.

3. Supervision

3.1. Promote a positive and efficient working environment.

3.2. Assist in the recruitment and training of new volunteers.

3.3. Ensure inductions are undertaken and documented for people working at the DC including Health and Safety and Security Inductions.

3.4. Ensure that volunteers are aware of all security procedures and protocols.

3.5. To ensure that volunteers are aware of their responsibilities in maintaining the premises to its highest standards.

3.6. Work with the management team to identify specific training needs for Volunteers and yourself.

3.7. Supervise staff and volunteers working at the Donation Centre to ensure that they are processing stock in a timely manner and to standards required by the retail team.

3.8. Ensure that all St Luke’s policies are adhered to.

4. Other Responsibilities

4.1 To work closely with the Donation Centre Management Team to ensure any problems in the Donation Centre are resolved quickly and effectively.
