**Data Engagement Officer **(Inside IR35)**

**Contract Term: 6 months**

**Contracting Authority: Cabinet Office - GDS**

**Location: Hybrid - London, Manchester, Bristol (3 days per week)**

The Central Digital and Data Office leads the digital, data and technology (DDaT) function for the government. We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital, data and technology transformation at scale by working with departments, and other government functions like commercial, project delivery and security professionals.

We are responsible for:

- Digital, Data and Technology Strategy and Standards, like the Technology Code of Practice, the Service Standard and Open Standards
- Cross-government DDaT performance and assurance, including Spend Controls
- DDaT Capability Development, including the DDaT pay framework

**As a Data Engagement Officer, your main responsibilities will be**:

- Grow data communities of practice which support the Data Marketplace (such as the Data Architecture, API and Data Sharing Practitioners communities); ensuring a diverse group of people feel welcome, respected and supported.
- Support community leaders with planning, logistics and delivery of community events, to a high standard.
- Delivery communications supporting Communities of Practice such as blogs
- Support the Communities Lead to make sure learnings are well documented and circulated across relevant groups in order to establish standards and contribute back to wider technical communities, for example through writing and circulating blogs, newsletters etc.
- Support the Communities Lead in delivery of community events such as Data Connect.
- You will be expected to work flexibly and collaboratively on a range of projects where your expertise and skills are needed and will support a culture of agile working across your team.

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:

- Excellent communication and writing skills, and ability to engage different audiences with appropriate style to maximise impact; for example technical writing, writing for blog channels and social media.
- Ability to balance changing priorities, deal with ambiguity, using astute judgement to make decisions in the absence of full facts
- Demonstrable expertise in communications, events or community management in a digital, data or technology field.
- Significant experience of building and maintaining effective relationships, and using a variety of channels to get the best results
- Strong organisational skills, and the ability to successfully deliver a quality service, and to grow a strong and engaged stakeholder community.
- An ability to work at a fast pace and deliver.
- An understanding of data policy and standards and why they are important
- A wide-ranging interest in data and technology and implications they have for software development, web technologies and government in general.
