Executive Head of Garment Technical

Title: Executive Head Of Garment Technical Reports to: Managing Director Department/Section: Technical Direct Reports: GM - Technical & Product Development Base: Manchester Office, UK Purpose of Job: To translate customer requirements and new product concepts and designs into production viable samples, with the objective of ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction in order to meet organisational performance objectives. **Duties and Responsibilities** - Maintain a reporting line for the GM - Technical & Product Development, based in Bangladesh. - To provide technical expertise to >12 Designers on production friendly make methods by analysing sketches and samples, understanding the customers’ requirements, to ensure right first-time samples are achievable, which are made to the most cost-efficient method and to the customers’ specific fit requirements. - Coordinate and communicate with the customer(s) on product related issues pertaining to fit, construction, technical specifications and raw materials etc, and subsequently clarify the requirements and recommend alternative value adding options to the customer in order to arrive at a mutually beneficial solution. - Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Simple Approach GM - Quality Assurance and the GM - Technical & Product Development, both based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Collaborate and share knowledge and information to ensure a smooth transition from product development to factory execution. - Support and guide the GM - Technical & Product Development, regarding product risk assessment for confirmed orders. - Support the GM - Quality regarding production input when requested or required on the more “challenging” quality issues and / or challenging product categories. - Ensure that Simple Approach develops the best fitting garments, exceeding the customers’ and consumers’ expectations. Maximise the use of 3D technology to support the delivery of the above. - To provide 3D expertise to the business - developing and driving the 3D fit process with customers to keep Simple Approach one step ahead of the competition, in order to reduce the number of fit samples and the critical path timeline. Provide 3D visuals of BD patterns and feeding back to the BD pattern team improvements to facilitate enhanced quality garments. **Technical Expertise / operations** - Stay abreast of developments in garment manufacturing and related technological areas; assess the feasibility of new technology, systems etc. for use at the factory and advise the factory management of relevant developments. - Assist in the preparation of the organisations budget, monitoring and authorising expenses, analysing deviations and implementing cost control measures in order to remain within the allocated budget, as and when required. - Lead, direct and motivate the technical team whilst monitoring performance and providing feedback, with the objective of ensuring that the teams capabilities meet the present and future organisational requirements. **Relationships and Coordination** **Internal **Design, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Merchandising and HR. **External **Testing laboratories, Fabric mills and Trims suppliers, as / when required. **JOB SPECIFICATION** **Required Experience** A minimum of 10 years of relevant Garment Manufacturing industry experience **Required Skills**: **Functional Competencies** Hands-on experience and sound Garment technical knowledge in areas such as; Product development, Pattern making, Equipment technology, Sewing techniques, Product costing, 3D / CAD/ CAM etc. and an in-depth understanding of the overall Garment manufacturing supply business and multi international customer requirements. **Supportive Skills** Leadership skills, ability to motivate others, communication skills and problem solving and decision making skills. **Teamwork** Build good working relationships; collaborates toward deadlines and deliverables, overall strong team player.
