We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who wishes to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity as we assist our traders to build back better as well as welcoming new traders to Bury Market.

You should have at least two years relevant administration experience gained in a busy environment, along with being able to demonstrate the ability to confidently deal with people face to face. You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally andin writing, be able to work to deadlines and have the ability to use Microsoft Office Packages. You will also have excellent communication skills in order to handle confrontational situations with tact and diplomacy whilst adhering to prescribed rules andregulations.

**The successful applicants will need to be flexible as all day Saturday working is required as part of the normal working week along with occasional Sunday and Bank Holiday working. The 20 hours offered are annualised, and would generally consistof working Full Market Days - Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the 20 hours spread across these.**

The post will be based primarily at 1 Murray Road although you may be required to travel to any of the Councils’ markets.

**Duties / Responsibilities**
- Report to a manager any deviations from markets regulations, or Council corporate objectives.
- Support the Administration team to develop and implement direct debits and cashless payments.
- Receipting cash and card transactions received at reception and over the telephone. Allocating, balancing and reconciling monies collected whilst the department moves to more cashless processes.
- Support and be a point of contact for coach tours, events and initiatives to increase footfall.
- Opening and locking up of the Market’s Office including opening and locking of the safe and the preparation of tills.
- Receipting, recording and returning property lost in the Market area, informing the Police where necessary.
- Deal with contractor queries and issue temporary vehicle permits where necessary.
- Issue and record coach driver lunch vouchers. Liaise with coach groups to ensure that users are safe whilst accessing the market including assisting coaches dropping off visitors at the designated coach drop off area by opening/closing the safety barriers.
- Opening, recording, sorting and distribution of incoming post to porters for delivery to other members of staff and traders.
- Making announcements on the Market Public Address System including the reporting of lost children.
- Reporting of accidents occurring in the Market area following the Council procedures.
- Photocopying, filing and general administration to support the market operation.
- Adhere to the appropriate procedures, policies and values of the Council and department.
- Maintain high levels of professional conduct at all times, with reference to punctuality, presentation and customer service.
- Attend and participate in supervision sessions, team meetings and employee reviews to contribute to the identification of training and development needs and the development of service plans.
- Attend training and development opportunities as appropriate.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the office and market as well as working on own initiative to ensure that customer service is at the highest level.
- Contribute and support initiatives within the market operation to increase footfall, raise the profile of the market, improve income generation and improve the market offering.
- Registration of traders and the allocation of stalls on MACCS and updating as required.
- Assist in the positive relationship development of new and existing traders.
- Requisition and payment of goods and services through the Council’s Procure to Pay System. Interrogating Agresso in order to deal with enquiries from suppliers.
- Assist Markets Finance and Admin Officer in the recording and balancing weekly income spreadsheets.
- Monitoring of Leasehold and Daily Licence accounts on a regular basis, issuing of arrears correspondence and assist in the collection of arrears.
- Dealing with enquiries from traders relating to their rent, producing rent schedules where necessary.
- Assist the Senior Markets Finance & Admin Manager in the reading of electricity meters and the issuing of electricity invoices to traders via quarterly/yearly/standing orders.
- Record and maintain information relating to electric sub meter locations.
- Assist in the implementation of new software packages.
- Assist Markets Support Manager in the measuring and calculation of build out.
- Reporting of late starters and early leavers and reporting traders who persistently offend to a Markets Manager.
- Assist Markets Support Manager in the collection and recording of Public Liability Insurance.
- Contribute and support the Service Manager / Market Lead to improve the marketing and promotion of the market through coach tour development, print media, social media, new stall initiatives assigned by the Senior Finance and Administration Manager andMarket Lead where appropriate.
