QA Tester

Cloud Imperium Games are happy to announce that we are looking for some talented new hires within our Quality Assurance department. CIG is responsible for one of the most ambitious space simulators currently on the market, constantly breaking new ground with astonishing and inspiring innovative technologies, displayed in our exciting and ongoing global development project, Star Citizen’s Persistent Universe.

Here in QA, we are dedicated to delivering a unique and thrilling game play experience with each of our updates. Working side by side with production, development, and marketing it is our goal as a company to be as accommodating and nurturing to creativity as we can be. Internal movement between departments is common here, as we encourage our testers to follow their dreams.
**What Does a QA Tester do at CIG?**
- Work directly with Senior QA staff at all CIG studios to coordinate testing efforts on all modules of the game.
- Work with development and production to create, maintain and share documentation/information
- Ensure that the game meets the highest possible quality standards by putting processes in place to thoroughly test all aspects of the game.
- Highlight issues to Senior QA members, and push back when quality standards are in question.
- Actively work to form plans and tools for finding exploits.
- Ensure that QA provides work-in-progress development testing.
- Maintain an organized bug database, with clear written comprehension in bug reports and excellent communication.
- Complete test plans and regress resolved issues.
- Help develop and evolve new and existing Quality Assurance methodologies.
**What you can expect from your six months in QA**
- A 4-week comprehensive training programme.
- Post Training, you will be assigned to one of our existing teams, based on your qualities and skills
- You will work with a team to develop, test, and influence new and existing game features and systems
- You will be guided and assisted by our leadership team both informally and utilising formal career development programs within the department
**What are our key requirements?**
- Good understanding of testing methodologies, test plan organization, and technical requirements.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to focus on priorities, manage change and be flexible to changing requests.
- Proficiency in MS Office and the use of defect tracking tools, e.g. Hansoft, Jira, DevTrack.
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with a good eye for detail.
- Proven ability to work under rapid development cycles.
- A thorough knowledge of videogames across multiple platforms.
- Natural curiosity and an enthusiasm for finding bugs.
**What we would like to see**:

- Experience in a QA role within the games industry.
- Experience working on MMOs and large-scale multiplayer games.
- Background education in video games
- Familiarity with the CryEngine.
- Experience working with multiple studios in a distributed environment.
- Skilled at working with developers in multiple regions around the world.
- Extensive knowledge and experience using Jira.
- Love of science fiction and space combat simulations.
**Covid-19 Hiring Update**
- During the pandemic we transitioned to a temporary work-from-home model. We are now working through a gradual return to office plan as improvements of the COVID-19 situation will allow. We’re continuing to interview and hire during this time and while Cloud Imperium is overall an in-office operating company, some roles will start out remotely and others will be in-office from day one of employment. As a general policy, we have a Flexitime policy arrangement that allows for some remote working if and when it meets the needs of the role and the company. The details can be discussed during the interview stage. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you. Also, we follow mask requirements as they keep being updated per local regulations when in studio and we're also requiring full vaccination in order to work in studio._
