Do you have a passion for helping the families of people with disabilities?
Salary c£25,000
DBS Check needed.
Tasks
We have opened a brand new service where we require a Family Support worker to join our team based in Ealing. You will be helping to identify what support is available to the parents of people with disabilities, with the aim of helping them early.
As our Family Support Worker, you will help us in making a positive impact by identifying trends and changes that affect people's lives. You will be working with parents and families, other professionals, and will make assessments to identify interventions to benefit the parents.
The support services that our Family Support Workers recommend may be provided by Mencap or other agencies, covering a range of activities and support mechanisms. We have plenty of resources for you as well as ongoing training throughout your time with us.
We will also be creating an online resource hub, which the Family Support Worker will assist us in. This will be beneficial for parents and families who may need support.
**Requirements**:
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in advisory, administration, or a coordination role. Bonus if you've worked in counseling, social care or psychology backgrounds or for the local services.
You should have an interest and understanding of the challenges disabled children face and their families. This may have come from work or personal experience.
You do not need to be trained in child protection policies or procedures. However, our expectations are that you will have basic knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
As part of this role, the Family Support Worker must be happy to travel around Ealing as you will be visiting a range of community, education and health centres.
Lastly, you’ll be available for work Monday - Friday and be available for some weekend work where needed.
**Benefits**:
You’ll be responsible for developing a service that will help hundreds of parents who currently don’t know where to turn.
You’ll contribute to the systems and processes that we have in place, with the opportunity to recommend more effective ways of working to further assist those in need.
Additionally through the success of our Family Support Service, you’ll be building awareness of Ealing Mencap as a brand and ensuring that those in need can find the help they need.
You will have all the support you need, with more formal training and certifications, the chance to develop skills on the job in marketing, administration, and operations, and from the extremely experienced team here at Ealing Mencap.
22 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 25 days after 5 years
Christmas closure in addition to annual leave allowance
Full induction and mentoring programme
Ongoing access to qualifications & learning opportunities
