Personal Support Assistant (Cumnock Area)
Currently looking for a keen individual to join our team to work within employer’s own home. Driving license essential. Immediate start available. Post will include approximately 15 hours per week as well as overnight support as required and holiday and sick cover.
As well as supporting employer in daily living tasks including personal care and household duties, you must have experience working horses and dogs as employer has a number of horses and two mini chihuahuas. Experience in care is desired but not essential as shadowing days/training will be given. Days/hours to be worked will be discussed with anyone interested in this post. A PVG Check will also be required to ensure your suitability to work with a protected adult.
Overview of Duties:
The post includes 15 hours weekly (including weekends), times flexible between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Personal care includes ensuring medication given at the correct times, as well as ensuring employer’s personal hygiene and physical and mental well-being.
The employer owns a number of horses which she rides with help, therefore you must be fully competent in carrying out stable duties and ensuring the horses’ general health is maintained. She has a horsebox to transport the horses, which you will be required to drive as well as driving her motability vehicle. She also has two therapy dogs. It will be part of the employee’s role to help the employer with the dogs, this will include walking, feeding and caring for the dogs.
The employer occasionally requires overnight support in her own home. There are times when she is bed bound and completely reliant on support from workers for all her needs. This post requires someone who can remain awake overnight to support the employer and can be called on to cover shifts at 24 hours notice.
The post will also involve holiday and sick cover day support within the employer’s home and at different activities in the local area.
This post has been identified to:
Cover 15 hours weekly (including weekends), cover overnight support when needed which will be in the form of a 10 hour waking nightshift often at only 24 hours notice. Holiday and sick leave cover, possibly at short notice, in her own home.
Duties include helping a wheelchair bound lady with personal care, daily household tasks, overnight support and social activities. Caring for her horses and dogs including driving 3.5 ton horsebox and driving her to various activities outwith her home in her own wheelchair adapted van.
No previous experience in care necessary as full training given.
Applicants must have a current driving license. Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or update for the PVG disclosure scheme, at the employers cost.
There is a six month probationary period attached to the post.

This will involve assisting her to develop and maintain relationships by providing encouragement, guidance and support where needed.

Assisting with domestic tasks such as shopping, cooking, and cleaning.
Assisting her to care for her horses and therapy dogs.
