**LOCATION**: Ramsbury & Wanborough Surgery, Wiltshire.

**HOURS OF DUTY**:
Monday 8.30am - 7pm

Tuesday 8.30am - 1.30pm

Wednesday OFF

Thursday 1.30pm - 7pm

Friday OFF

Saturday on rota

AIMS OF POST
You will be working as a member of the Practice Reception Team to provide a high quality front line interface between the Practice and its patients. You will be required to provide efficient and accurate administrative work in support of the Practice business. Duties will be at our main Surgery in Ramsbury and our Branch Surgery in Wanborough. Your working hours will be spread out over a Monday to Saturday working week.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide high quality front desk reception service to the Practice patients
- Share in the general administrative duties associated with operating the Practice and its patient services
- Answering the telephone to deal with enquiries, make appointments, transfer calls to appropriate team members etc
- Taking and recording requests for home visits by Doctors and/or Nurses
- Opening and closing the surgery premises
- Handling of prepared prescriptions to patients
- Collection of prescription charges/checking exemption statements
- Taking part in team meetings and training
- Offer support and work together with the whole Practice Team

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS - The post holder will work closely with the Practice Doctors and Nurses and will be accountable to the Senior Receptionist and onwards to the GP Partners and Practice Manager. There will be day-to-day contact with all members of staff and the general public. It is essential that the image presented always shows the Practice in an excellent light and that all visitors to the Practice, including ill, worried or angry patients are dealt with sensitively, both face to the face and over the telephone

**HEALTH & SAFETY**

The post-holder will implement the Practice Health & Safety procedures and the Practice Infection Control policy.

**CONFIDENTIALITY**:

- In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
- In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

- Undertake Basic Life Support training (mandatory for all staff)
- Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work

**QUALITY**:
The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the Practice, and will:

- Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team’s performance

The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to:
