**Job Purpose**:
The People Partnering team at River Island support the business functions to develop robust people plans to build the performance and capabilities within their teams in order to deliver the business plans.

The People Advisor role models the RI values, supporting line managers to achieve high levels of performance, engagement and conduct within their team through a combination of good commercial thinking and best practise delivery of people processes and policies. They work alongside the Centres of Excellence (COEs) and Operational People teams to ensure transactional activity is delivered, whilst liaising with People Partners to support broader projects.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Advise on People policies and process at employee and manager levels through the full Islander lifecycle, tailoring approaches within the guidelines to drive best possible outcomes for both the individual and the business
- Coach line managers and develop their skills and knowledge to be self-sufficient in most people management scenarios
- Develop and maintain a foundational understanding of the business model, its priorities and challenges so as to respond to people issues in a way that aligns to driving best business outcomes
- Develop and maintain a foundational understanding of different HR specialisms, know how they integrate and when to collaborate with COEs to provide best possible employee experience for Islanders, as well as meeting the needs of the business
- Collaborate across the People Team to help support the successful delivery of all annual processes including pay review and performance cycles, as well as ad hoc activity as needed
- Support managers with effective goal setting and consistent performance measurement to support the cultivation of a performance-led culture
- Work closely with the People Operations team, providing support and guidance on 1st line support queries
- Highlight trends in data and assist with recommendations on how to address opportunities
- Support People Partners to deliver functional People Plan activity
- Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with managers, providing constructive challenges as well as acting as a sounding board and advisor
- Through role modelling RI values and integrity, contribute to creating a workplace with wellbeing and inclusion at its core, highlighting opportunities to improve any people policies and practices that don’t fully support this
- Take a proactive approach to professional development for yourself and others, using internal and external networks and resources to advance and share knowledge

**Key experience required**:

- Previous experience as an HR or People Advisor in a fast-paced environment or at Advisor level in any HR discipline with some employee relations experience
- CIPD Level 3 qualified or equivalent experience
- Good track record of delivering positive outcomes in a broad range of employee relations cases
