To provide therapeutic support to Children and Young People who are recovering from their experience from domestic abuse and are receiving support in refuge, during follow on and or as part of our schools or outreach services.

**JOB DESCRIPTION- Children & Young People Support Worker**

**Responsible To: Senior Domestic Abuse Worker**

**Work Base**:MDWA Office, Unit 1a Flemington Court, Craignuek Street, Flemington Industrial Estate, Motherwell,

ML1 2NT and the Motherwell District community.

**Salary**: £28,590

**Hours**: Full Time, 35 hours per week, shift work is a requirement of the role

Qualifications Essential - SVQ Level 3 Social Service Children and Young People and must have a clean Driving Licence and access to own vehicle

**Core Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Provide innovative and creative 1-1 and group work support to actively support CYP recovering from their experience of domestic abuse during their stay in refuge, also when they move on into their own home and through our community, schools and outreach CYP services.
- Provide child centred support through Health and Wellbeing Plans in line with guidance and legislation.
- Signpost and advocate for CYP with external agencies as appropriate.
- Develop and run an innovative and creative group work programme for children and young people.
- Devise and maintain CYP paperwork and case notes.
- Co-ordinate and provide a variety of play sessions and activities for CYP, including play schemes during school holidays, on a one to one or group work basis.
- Prepare relevant reports in relation to CYP for statutory, funding bodies and voluntary organisations when necessary.
- Identify appropriate tools and resources to meet individual CYP needs.
- Work out of hours when required.
- Work in conjunction with Child Protection Policy and Procedure.
- Work in conjunction with Women’s team where applicable.
- To maintain accurate manual and computer-based client records (in accordance with GDPR regulations).
- To provide Support with administration duties, data collation, evaluations, and data and reports.
- To assist with the running of our service by being flexible in your approach to this post and carrying out other duties as requested by management that are consistent with this post.
- To maintain professional boundaries when working with service users, staff, and external bodies, working within MDWA values and the SSSC Codes of Conduct.

**Raising Awareness**:

- As an expert on coercive control, you will be proactive about sharing best practice and building awareness with other professionals on the frontline.
- Support the promotion of MDWA’s public and media profile.
- Participate in wider forums and events on behalf of MDWA.
- Contribute to local and national campaigns that influence policy, practice and legislation relating to women, children, and young people.
- Develop and maintain good public relations out-with the organisation.
- To follow MDWA policies and procedures.

Pay: £28,590.00 per year
