**Background**
The post sits within the eResources & Serials Team, part of the wider Collection Development Team. This team is part of the Collections, Discovery and Research Communications Division of Libraries and Learning Resources. The division acquires and manages access to an extensive collection of information resources in a range of different formats in support of teaching, learning and research at the University of Birmingham.
**Role Summary**
This role is key to supporting the provision of and access to the University’s library collections. Working as part of a team you will undertake a range of operational duties in support of the acquisition, lifecycle management, discovery and access to electronic resources and print serials. You will provide accurate and timely information and advice to colleagues relating to the work of the team and resolve queries. You will also contribute to the development and improvement of team tasks and processes and will have the opportunity to get involved in wider Libraries and Learning Resources activities and projects.
**Main Duties**
- Use library management systems to process data relating to the management of electronic resources and print serials, monitoring accuracy, investigating missing information, and escalating any issues as appropriate.
- Use a variety of complex university and library systems and processes to collate, manipulate, analyse and interpret sets of data, and produce routine reports.
- Act as a point of contact to provide accurate and timely information and advice to staff and library users on team processes, procedures, and electronic resource access issues, answering queries promptly, providing guidance and resolving queries from initial contact to resolution. This will include recognising when queries need to be referred elsewhere.
- Manage print serial publications by accurately receipting new issues onto the library management system and taking responsibility for monitoring release dates for expected issues and liaising with subscription agents and publishers to ensure timely claims are made for missing issues.
- Process invoices in compliance with Library and University financial procedures in preparation for payment and accurately record details on the library management system. Check supplier statements and invoices for accuracy, liaising with content suppliers in a timely way to resolve issues and request missing invoices.
