**Job summary**:
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) helps businesses export, drives inward and outward investment, negotiates market access and trade deals and champions free trade.
The Export Control and Sanctions Directorate (EC&S) is based in DBT and brings together operational and policy expertise from DBT with advisory teams from the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. We regulate military and other sensitive exports such as dual-use items. This is done through a licensing system, ensuring UK exports are consistent with our national and international obligations and standards. We also own the policy on international trade sanctions.
The People and Capability Team, which this role is part of, plays a central role in ensuring that EC&S delivers its strategic and operational objectives effectively, armed with the right learning and development opportunities. This role is an exciting opportunity to be exposed to all areas of EC&S and the wider Department as well as exposure to senior leaders and stakeholders.
**Job description**:
Your main duties will be to:
- Manage the induction process for new starters to the team.
- Manage the people and capability arrangements for the team including developing ongoing training for all EC&S staff.
- Be proactive in supporting the leadership to drive improvement in the day-to-day ways of working and delivery of learning and development.
- Support the Head of People and Capability on actions agreed from People Survey/Pulse Survey.
- Work with EC&S to complete learner journey/career pathways and other training/development products for their teams in a way that is proportionate to the organisation’s needs.
- Act as a point of contact and have lead responsibility for disseminating information to the team from the centre and Human Resource Business Partners on health and wellbeing, Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination (BHD) policies and Learning and Development.
- Provide ad hoc support for the wider Business Management Team as required.
**Hybrid Working**
The role will be based in either Darlington or London.
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.
Working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

**Essential Criteria**
- Have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, good attention to detail, and be able to multi-task and work across multiple activities.
- Be a strong communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience of working in a People and Capability or L & D environment
