**Job description**:
Do you want to be part of the journey towards net zero emissions by 2050? If so, we have the role for you

To meet net zero, we need to change how we get around and keep our homes warm by electrifying transport and heat. A smart, flexible energy system is essential to minimise the cost of this transition and make the most of renewable energy sources.

Smart devices and services are a key component of delivering this flexible system. They offer consumers energy bill savings if they use electricity at times of low demand, such as by charging their electric vehicle overnight, and benefit the energy system by reducing the need for expensive new infrastructure.

The Smart Secure Electricity System’s team works deliver appropriate protections for the public and energy system as smart devices and services emerge.

This role will be focused on coordinating and support stakeholder engagement across the energy industry.

**Person specification**:
**Key responsibilities**
- The team is responsible for developing a new regulatory framework for the smart energy sector to ensure it is secure, doesn't pose risks to consumers and helps deliver net zero.
The role will be working in an evolving, growing area and can expect to include:

- Stakeholder and event management support including working group coordination.
- Secretariat support for Board meetings, e.g., issuing appointments, checking availability of attendees, and ensuring that meeting papers and material is complete;
- Provide administrative help on the processes that support the whole project;
- Opportunities to contribute to wider team projects and activities by carrying out bespoke items of work that might include research, preparation of presentations, collating and helping organise responses to communications, information requests and helping colleagues deliver policy and other work

**Skills and experience**
- Previous experience is not as important as energy, enthusiasm, and passion for making BEIS a more effective organisation, dedication to the role and your desire to undertake an apprenticeship.
Whether you are at the start of your career journey or are looking to give your career a new impetus, we want to hear from you if you have the qualities described. An interest in the Energy Sector/Net Zero will be helpful.
The role is very varied, and will require:

- Excellent organisational abilities, good judgement, a focus on problem-solving with a focus on delivering results;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including being proficient in the use of Outlook and other Microsoft Office systems;
- You will also be committed to balancing the role with the apprenticeship learning and will be committed to completing the apprenticeship programme and other development activities.

Desirable:

- The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships across Government and industry;

**Behaviours**:
We'll assess you against these behaviours during the sel
