Packaging Engineering Manager

The operation will be housed at Jaguar Land Rover’s new Mercia Park campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer. As Packaging Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of Packaging Engineers and provide a Packaging Engineering service for the new Mercia Appleby Magna facility. You will develop, maintain and achieve business performance through focussing on continuousimprovement.
**As part of your key responsibilities you’ll**:

- Manage a team of Packaging Engineers
- Hold regular reviews with Operations management, Leaders and Client management team to review current levels of performance and any issues that may impact upon service, costs, or performance
- Maintain packaging specification, ensuring it is consistent across similar products and maintain specification data in Ipos, EWM (Mercia) and UBS SAP
- Ensure packaging specification is in line with Health and safety requirement
- Ensure weights and dimensions are correct in Ipos
- Ensure packaging design is suitable for handling and storage as well as cost effective
- New Parts Introduction (NPI)
- Ensure planning and updating of new parts packaging specification is completed in timely manner in line with JLR’s requirement and SLA
- Responsible to deliver on time projects when requested from the client
- Support in house packer to reduce SUP and design new ways of packing using different types of materials to protect parts keeping costs down
- To learn, fully understand and work within ‘The Unipart Way’ adopting lean management principles and approach
- Ensure that Key Performance Indicators are delivered, with focus on quality
- Ensure processes have a relevant Standard Operating Procedure
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with site Managers and Leaders responsible for Packer operational performance
- Develop and maintain appropriate daily, weekly and monthly reporting mechanisms to monitor, and improve performance
- Support in house packer benches to ensure packaging is fit for purpose
- Support Packer 1st off bench when required ensuring new parts are completed within agreed client SLA
- Promote flexibility through skills training and personal development.
- Manage customer interfaces and expectations to ensure excellent customer service is received
**About You**
- Experienced Team Manager
- Experience of packaging within a warehouse environment
- Good MS Excel Skills (incl. PivotTables & VLOOKUP’s) & Experience with SAP (WMS)
- Data Analysis experience
- Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail and quality focused
- Admin Skills with strong planning, organising and time management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical, problem solver that is target/results driven
- Teamwork and collaboration
**Location**: Appleby Magna
**Contract Type**: Permanent
**Hours**: Full Time, 08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday
**Salary**: £40,000 per annum, car / car allowance, 33 days holiday, pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits scheme
