The Outdoor Play Assistant will support the Early Childhood Practitioner on site with the day to day running of the ELC Westbank Outdoor Project.
The play assistant's role will support high quality mealtime experiences. Additional duties of the Outdoor Play Assistant will include ensuring that food safety management protocols are adhered to and that staffing standards and ratios are met in terms of staff breaks. The role of the play assistant will further ensure the high level of care required to meet toileting and changing needs of children and ensuring the consistency of learning when staff are on breaks.
The job is based outdoors and will require some heavier lifting. You will be required to work 45 weeks of the year. The site will be closed for ELC 2 weeks at Christmas and remain open the 1st week of October, 1st week of Easter, the first 3 weeks of the summer and for some public and occasional holidays. You will be expected to take your holidays according to this pattern.

For the role of Play Assistant there is no entry requirement, however you will be expected to hold or be willing to work towards a childcare qualification as well as have the eligibility to register with SSSC.
Ideally you should have completed or be willing to work towards Forest Kindergarten Training or equivalent. Ideally you should hold Baby & Child First Aid Training and Child Protection Training and be willing to work towards or already hold outdoor equivalents.
