Cafe Team Leader

**Role Purpose**:
As a Café Team Leader (Front of House), you will play a crucial role in ensuring our café runs smoothly and provides an outstanding experience for our customers. You’ll lead a team of dedicated staff, oversee daily operations, and maintain the highest standards of service.

Assist the Manager within the scope of the role for all food quality, hygiene and safety to eliminate the risk of contamination.

Assist the Manager to oversee and supervise all Cafe activities

To provide an excellent customer service, production, and preparation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Customer Service**: Greet and assist customers, ensuring they feel welcome and attended to. Handle inquiries, take orders, and address any concerns promptly.
- **Team Leadership**: Supervise café team, including, servers, cooks and Provide guidance, training, and support to maintain a positive work environment.
- **Shift Management**: Assist Manager with team schedules, manage breaks, and ensure adequate coverage during peak hours. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food and beverage service.
- **Quality Control**: Monitor food and drink quality, presentation, and cleanliness. Uphold hygiene and safety standards.
- **Inventory Management**: Track inventory levels, order ingredients, and manage stock rotation in the managers absence
- **Upselling**: Encourage upselling by promoting daily specials, loyalty programs, and bakery products.
- **Problem Solving**: Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly. Escalate complex matters to management when necessary.
- **Cash Handling**: Oversee cash till, handle payments, and floats
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless coordination between front of house and back of house operations.
- Resolve customer complaints and seek out root issue to prevent recurrence feeding back customer comments and needs
- Proactively ensure cost efficiencies and control/minimise waste, (e.g. reuse and recycling)

**Food Quality & Safety**
- Ensure standards for food safety and quality are fully met
- Ensure all aspects of HACCP, and standards for health, hygiene, cleanliness, safety and quality are adhered to.
- Take responsibility for safety and quality of products, proactively monitor and manage issues and concerns to eliminate poor standards
- Monitor department cleanliness, tidiness and effective organisation of stock

**Health, Safety & Hygiene**

Minimise risk, create and maintain a safety environment

Oversee cleanliness standards

Train, monitor and review team’s competency, awareness and compliance including manual lifting, safe storage, tidiness, spills, damages and potential accidents

Responsible for safety of equipment and storage within the department

Responsible for communication with team

Responsible for accident investigation and reporting

Pay: From £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
