**About the Role**

Bolesworth is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fille the role of Assistant Head Gardener. You will assist and support to the Head Gardener in managing the maintenance of the Estate garden comprising of a formal terraced garden with lawns, mixed borders, rose beds, shrubberies, and a woodland walk. You should be proactive and have an eye for detail to ensure the gardens and grounds are presented to a high standard at all times.
- Working both on your own and as part of a team, you will be required to carry out a wide variety of duties in all weather conditions.
- The role covers all aspects of horticulture including; mulching, pruning, leaf clearing, weeding, planting and maintenance of trees, lawn care and herbaceous borders.
- Operate and maintain garden machinery (mowers and strimmers).
- Assist with the care of car parks and drives to include leaf sweeping and ensuring drains are not blocked.
- Estate work is varied and some flexibility is needed and occasional ‘other’ duties may be required e.g. helping with estate garden visits, cutting flowers for the house.

**Experience, Skills, Personal Characteristics**
- Essential_
- Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in horticulture.
- Minimum RHS Level 2 qualification in Horticulture.
- Competency in garden machinery, equipment use and maintenance
- Clear understanding of the relevant Health and Safety legislation with formal training in manual handling and risk assessment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- The role requires you to be physically fit.
- You should be comfortable working alone at times.
- Desirable_
- Pesticide Spraying License (PA1/PA6).
- Chainsaw certification would be advantageous.
- Tractor driving licence would be beneficial

**Hours**

40 hours per week Monday to Friday inclusive, with an unpaid hour for lunch - due to the nature of this role core hours are seasonal and determined by your Line Manager.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £32,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
