Accommodation: Live-out role

Reporting to: Head Gardener / Estates Manager

Contract: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible, with weekend and evening work)

The Role

We are seeking a practical, motivated, and adaptable individual to join the estate team. This role combines garden support, driving duties, and general maintenance work across the property. The position is ideal for someone who is eager to build practical experience in estate operations. The successful candidate will enjoy varied work, both outdoors and the estate buildings, and will take pride in ensuring high standards are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Gardening & Grounds Support

  • Assist the Head Gardener with routine maintenance tasks across the estate.
  • Lawn care: mowing, edging, strimming, and general upkeep.
  • Planting, weeding, mulching, watering, and seasonal garden duties.
  • Support with pruning, hedge trimming, and specialist tasks as instructed.
  • Help ensure gardens, grounds, and outdoor areas are maintained to an excellent standard.

Driving Duties

  • Provide driving support for the Principals and guests, including early morning, late evening, and weekend driving when required.
  • Drive safely and professionally at all times, maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ensure vehicles are kept clean, fuelled, polished, and ready for use.
  • Conduct routine vehicle checks (oil, tyre pressures, fluid levels) servicing, MOTs, and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance schedules.

General Estate Maintenance Support

  • Assist with minor repairs and property maintenance tasks across the estate buildings.
  • Support with painting, basic DIY, troubleshooting simple issues, and reporting larger maintenance needs.
  • Carry out jet washing of patios, driveways, outdoor furniture, and equipment.
  • Assist with estate projects, seasonal tasks, and event setup.
  • Provide practical support wherever required to ensure the smooth daily running of the estate.

Candidate Profile

  • Full, clean UK driving licence (essential).
  • Previous experience in gardening, grounds care, property maintenance, or similar practical work is desirable.
  • Basic DIY skills are advantageous.
  • Hardworking, flexible, and reliable with a positive attitude.
  • Must meet the physical demands of the role as outlined in the job description (reasonable adjustments will be considered) and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons.
  • Professional, discreet, and trustworthy.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends when required.
