- Supporting new businesses to get established with firm foundations, good legal structures and strong governance.
- Helping existing businesses grow by finding finance, developing business plans and evaluating social and community impact.
- Delivering policy work, research, evaluations and social impact reports.
**Supporting Her Enterprise (SHE) Plymouth Project**
SHE Plymouth is a Rank Foundation funded project, working with women in Plymouth to reduce social isolation and support them to be more economically active. The project will reach out across Plymouth to find women who have a great business or community idea and work with them to increase their confidence, skills and knowledge to make that idea happen.
**Role summary**
The successful applicant will link with women across the city to provide support and advice through sessions that are flexible in venue, timing and approach.You will work to reduce social isolation and support women to be more economically active by providing advice, support and coaching on things like:
- **Business planning**:
- **Marketing**:
- **Funding and finance**:
- **Setting your vision, mission and values**:
- **Registering your business or organisation**:
- **Good management and governance**:
- **Measuring your impact**:
- **Building confidence and networking**
You will:
- **Deliver one-to-one advice and support (both online and in-person)** to women thinking of setting up social enterprises and community businesses/organisations. These women are often isolated individual social entrepreneurs. You will provide good quality advice and support them to develop skills like confidence, public speaking and networking, and help them develop their ideas.
- **Deliver online webinars**. These will enable isolated women to take part in discussions about social enterprise and develop an online collaborative platform for ideas.
- **Create short films, **with the support of our Film and Content Creator, on themes such as ‘Why is social enterprise important in Plymouth?’ and others will focus on case studies of women who have successfully started their own social enterprise or community organisaiton as well as charting the journeys of some of the women we support.
- **Create networking and supportive opportunities **among the women you work with. To enable them to connect, support each other and collaborate, increasing their chances of success.
**Skills and experience required**
- **Supporting female entrepreneurs**: experience of and/or a real passion for supporting women to succeed in developing their ideas and leadership
- **Business advice**:you will need to have an in-depth knowledge of the business support landscape and a track record of delivering quality business advice to individuals and organisations.
- **Networking**:experience of creating and facilitating supportive networks/peer support and running related events
- **Understanding or awareness of the social enterprise business model and sector**: experience of working in the sector would be helpful but an interest in and willingness to learn is essential
- **Communication**: you will be able to build positive relationships with individuals, clients, partners, commissioners, funders and networks and have excellent communication, mentoring and coaching skills
- **Excellent organisational skills**: You need to be highly organised to manage multiple projects or clients simultaneously and to a high standard whilst keeping the team updated and involved
- **Multitasking**: You need to be comfortable managing a range of different projects with multiple stakeholders, so you need to be able to prioritise tasks and stay calm under pressure
- **Marketing skills**: You need to be able to effectively market the organisation and the different services it provides, to a range of target audiences.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
Part-time hours: 18.75 per week
**Salary**: £30,000.00 per year
