The HR Advisor role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

**The role**
**The difference our new HR Advisor will make**
As a HR Advisor you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. In this role you will contribute to modernising our employment policies and practices to enable a positive employee experience
Day to day, you’ll support our managers in dealing with people related matters, which will include supporting them through our employment procedures and providing advice, guidance and coaching on policies and procedures. You will also be involved in writing policies and procedures and supporting their implementation through developing and delivering briefing sessions to managers at all levels in collaboration with our L&D colleagues.

We offer flexible working to give people more options to better integrate their work and personal life, whilst ensuring that business needs are met. This role provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home however, full flexibility is required.
**Essential experience**
- You will have, or be working towards, a level 5 CIPD qualification or have equivalent HR experience and be willing to achieve level 5, be a member of the CIPD and committed to continuous professional development.
- You will need to be proactive and be experienced in all aspects of employee relations, which includes supporting disciplinary, grievance, short/long term absence and working with Occupational Health, TUPE, redundancy and performance management processes.
- It’s essential you can build effective working relationships with our Trade Union colleagues, managers and HR Business Partners as you will be working closely with a specific business area, although you will be flexible and support where needed.
- Some other key skills you will need to enable success in this role are the ability to influence, challenge professionally and work collaboratively, as well as being personally credible.
- You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
