**Location**: West Lothian Civic Centre, Livingston. It is anticipated that the role will involve a blended model of office and home working.
**Duration of contract**: Fixed term, until March 2026

**About the role**:
The role of an Improvement Champion was identified during the passage of the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019. Scottish Ministers have exercised their authority to award a grant to enable the Improvement Service to appoint an appropriate person to undertake the role of a National Planning Improvement (NPI) Champion and the National Planning Improvement Project Officer.
With the NPI Champion’s priorities/objectives being set with input from the High-Level Group on Planning Performance, with COSLA and Scottish Government co-chairing the group, the objectives for the NPI Project Officer post will be agreed with the NPI Champion.
The post-holder will support the NPI Champion whose responsibility is to facilitate improvement within the Scottish planning system, by providing constructive input which promotes a measurable outcomes-based approach.

**Location**:
West Lothian Council Civic Centre, Howden South Road, Livingston, EH54 6FF, with travel throughout Scotland as required.
It is anticipated that the role will involve a blended model of office and home working. This flexible approach will be agreed between employee and line manager.
