**The Opportunity**

We have the opportunity for you to join our Group Procurement team as a Head of Procurement, reporting to the Group Procurement Director and a member of the Procurement Leadership Team. Your primary responsibility will be for the procurement of a range of raw materials across the Samworth Brothers Group, leading a team of Category managers and buyers, Business Procurement team and Subject Matter Expert (SME).

The secondary responsibility of the role is representing procurement as a key member on the Leadership Team for one of the 4 main category businesses. This element of the role is crucial to drive strong engagement between Group Procurement and the businesses, ensuring team ownership for the business procurement agenda, including delivery of the Profit Improvement Plan.

In this role you will:

- Lead a team ensuring that the business is adhering to the correct supplier selection meeting the necessary business objectives -financial, quality, technical, customer.
- Develop robust, long, medium
- and short-term category plans and strategies to deliver across all measures (cost, value, sustainability, quality, innovation, efficiency, risk management etc.)
- Lead engagement with key suppliers to drive performance and develop strong relationships.
- Ensure the business procurement team takes ownership of implementing and maintaining group contracts, systems and processes keeping all key stakeholders abreast of key developments or challenges where appropriate.
- Coach, train and motivate direct reports to ensure individuals are stretched to their full potential
- 5+ years’ experience within a senior procurement role, ideally in chilled food.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills.
- Operating in a Group role within a matrix structure.
- Effective management and development of teams.
- Track record of delivering change and developing systems and processes.
- Track record of financial delivery within a business.
- To be able to influence stakeholders at all levels, including customers.
- Need to demonstrate the ability to deliver the highest performance standards for self and team.
- The ability to make difficult decisions and to take a calm & measured approach in an often pressured environment which often involves working to tight deadlines to overcome and achieve results.
- Willingness to travel, extensively within the UK, with occasional overseas.
- Full driving license.
