Location: Central London with Hybrid working
Hunter Merrifield are working with a Medical Membership Organisation based in central London to recruit a Governance Manager.
Our client is looking for a Governance Manager to join the Chief Executive's team. This is a new high-profile management role which will lead and develop the governance and stakeholder management of the college and provide the support and insights to enablethe Chief Executive to lead the College with maximum impact, effectiveness and efficiency.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the key purpose of the role will be to:
- Ensure the efficient running of the College's Council, Board and Committees, in line with its Royal Charter.
- Establish and maintain effective business systems and procedures for the Chief Executive's Department including support for the development of the College's business plan and its ongoing monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure coordinated delivery of high-quality customer service across the College, ensuring that members, potential members and stakeholders feel heard and responded to.
The main responsibilities for the Governance Manager will be to:
- Ensure good governance of the College.
- Manage the preparation and distribution of agendas and papers for Board and Council undertaken by the Executive Assistant (Chief Executive), ensuring that deadlines for distribution are met.
- Manage the elections processes including reviewing the procedures to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Manage events as required for Officers, Board of Trustees, Council, the LAP and the Senior
- Management Team e.g. away days, dinners and local network events.
- Support Council in their role as regional representatives and advocates for the College.
- Develop and manage the ongoing delivery of an effective cross-College stakeholder management process. Work in collaboration with departments to shape and develop relationships with customers and stakeholders, supporting them to be College ambassadors.
- Facilitate the development of effective customer service processes across the College and produce and coordinate the implementation of key performance indicators and operating manuals for standard processes and procedures.
- Support the business planning process, and manage the monthly monitoring and reporting of the College's three-year business plan.
- Line manage and develop the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive.
- Manage the annual budget for the College's governance activities.
- Using data (from the CRM and elsewhere), regularly report on customer service delivery within teams and use this data improve response times and levels of engagement including implementing action plans from themes identified from customer service data.
- Develop and manage groups and committees dynamics functionality, and its deployment to enable Special Interest Group development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including experience of working with senior level management
- Experience of managing election processes and procedures within a membership organisation
- Experience of supporting committees
- Experience of managing organisation-wide projects.
- Experience of developing KPIs and operating manuals.
- Experience of stakeholder management.
- Experience of working in a professional body and/or membership organisation.
- Good level of knowledge of relevant charity governance legislation
- Business acumen with budget management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience of coaching/managing others workloads
