Access Creative College (ACC) is one of the largest national private education and training providers for the creative industries. This is a national role encompassing the full scope of our operations including Apprenticeships, Further and Higher Education provision, including Music (performance and technology), Games, Media, Computing and Sports.
The Data Protection Officer will be key to developing and improving the Company’s Data Protection, GDPR and Information Security provisions and will provide advice and guidance to staff across all centres, offices and departments. A key aspect will be the implementation and development of policies, procedures and strategies to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and any other new information laws. The Data Protection Officer will be responsible for advising and providing guidance on matters concerning Data Protection and the Company's data protection obligations. They are also responsible for notification requirements to the Information Commissioner, such as reporting data breaches or consultations on Data Privacy Impact Assessments.
Working with the Data Protection and Information Security Group, the Data Protection Officer will be expected to develop policy and procedures, maintain a privacy and data protection knowledge base, deliver presentations, and facilitate both face to face and on-line training and development, knowledge base awareness to all staff (including ELT and Directors).
The post holder will also play a key role in developing and maintaining the Company’s Information Strategy and Information Governance policies and procedures.
You will be responsible for discharging the statutory duties as defined and outlined by the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and all relevant UK data protection legislation at the time, including:
- Strategic data protection management
- Compliance
- Risk Assessment and Risk Management
- Advice and Guidance to stakeholders
- Incident Management
You will
- Proficiency and experience of Data Protection laws and implementation of data protection policies and procedures
- Experience in providing high-quality customer service in a complex environment.
- Experience in maintaining information governance or other complex records accurately.
- Experience of working successfully as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate clearly and in an appropriate language with third parties, students and colleagues both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and explain complex regulations to third parties, students and colleagues.
- Ability to manage own time and workload.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to support, guide and inform as necessary.
- Be willing to travel as necessary and represent the College in key professional networks.
