We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced individual to join the team as a Data Protection Officer

This is a full time role working 40 hours Monday - Friday.

**What will you do?**
- Upholding and enhancing processes for handling data privacy requests.
- Monitoring the Data Controller mailbox and collaborating with stakeholders to address queries.
- Identifying and escalating complex privacy-related queries.
- Maintaining process inventories and facilitating regular reviews.
- Conducting reviews of cookie practices on urbanbubble websites and ensuring compliance.
- Ensuring a deep understanding of data protection requirements across the business.
- Evaluate the existing data protection framework to identify areas of non or partial compliance, and rectify any issues
- Facilitating the annual review and approval of Data Protection policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Supporting with incident management
- Serve as the contact point for the ICO (or other relevant supervisory authority) on all data protection issues, including data breach reporting
- Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements
- Inform and advise the organisation and its employees of their data protection obligations
- Monitor compliance with the GDPR and internal data protection policies and procedure, through quality and audit checks, with appropriate remedial action taken
- Oversee the assignment of responsibilities across the organisation, embedding this as the cultural norm
- Devise training plans and material to ensure the right level of knowledge and competence exists

**What we are looking for?**
- Experience with UK GDPR and the ability to interpret large and complex data sets.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Purview (desirable)
- Proven experience in a privacy role, with excellent technical and people skills.
- Significant experience in managing records, information and data protection.
- Comprehensive understanding of the business-critical nature of information assets
- Understanding of how to build, implement and manage data protection programmes is essential
- Ability to assist colleagues to fully utilise, store and protect information assets, in line with legislation.
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience in legal, audit and/or risk management.
- A solid understanding of current data protection law and a good, working understanding of the requirements of GDPR and the Public Records (Scotland) Act

**Desirable qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related field is advantageous
- A foundation level Data Protection qualification/certificate.
- CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPM, or other relevant certifications
