**Payroll/Bookkeeping Assistant | Hornchurch, Essex | Full or part-time to suit individual needs | £30,000-£35,000 per annum FTE (pro rata for part time)**

Our client is a well-established firm of Chartered Certified Accountants based in Hornchurch Essex. They supply bespoke accountancy and taxation services to all types of businesses and individuals.

**Are you the right person for the job?**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong practical knowledge/experience of payroll and bookkeeping within a practice environment
- Experience in using SAGE Payroll and Sage Accounts 50 software
- Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel, to an intermediate level
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- PAYE knowledge - awareness of how to deal with payroll adjustments e.g., sick/maternity/holiday/redundancy pay etc
- Able to work to a high level of accuracy
- Confident when dealing with clients and getting your views across
- Use initiative to identify problems and provide solutions
- Ability to operate under strict deadlines and handle conflicting priorities
- Ability to work within a team and to assist one another as and when required

**What will your role look like?**
- To assist in the preparation of client’s monthly payrolls
- Dealing with pension/auto enrolment (e.g., NEST)
- Effectively manage time to ensure that payrolls are completed as per clients’ requirements
- Meet deadlines
- Develop and maintain good client relations
- Liaise with clients directly or through the relevant manager to resolve queries or obtain further information
- Ensure a high level of service to meet client’s expectations
- Assist clients with bookkeeping and admin duties (e.g., billing, filing, scanning etc)
