**Job Summary**
**Project Officer - Lifesaving Conversations**
**£27,500 to £31,000 per year**
**Fixed term (6 months), full-time (37.5 hours per week)**
**Hybrid working with regular travel to our London Bridge Office**
**What the job involves**
We’re looking for a skilled, motivated and experienced Project Officer to join our Volunteer Engagement team and support Lifesaving Conversations.
Life Saving Conversations is a new initiative that involves an informal, peer-led approach where men and families are empowered to talk about prostate cancer risk with each other. This model will help us to access communities less well served by traditional health care interventions and services. Lifesaving Conversations is an informal awareness tool to enable and empower more people to support the cause through talking, signpost to resources like our risk checker and get more men talking about their health.
You’ll work closely with our Awareness Engagement Manager and support the roll out, design and processes of the project. You’ll have opportunities to work closely with volunteers and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation.
This is a great opportunity to be able to make a difference in men’s lives and empower communities to have lifesaving conversations.
**What we want from you**
As this is a new initiative - to be successful in the role you’ll need to have demonstrable previous experience in supporting the design and delivery of cross-organisational projects. It will also be important to have previous experience in data collection and monitoring. We want to be able to demonstrate the success of the project and you’ll be able to support that in your work.
You’ll work closely with volunteers and keep the end user in mind so have to be able to show previous experience in user involvement, putting customers at the heart of project planning and delivery.
It will also be important to have knowledge of, or previous experience in health campaigns and volunteering.
You’ll be a great team player who can build and maintain productive working relationships with staff and volunteers. You understand what makes a great volunteer experience and be knowledgeable about volunteer engagement and support.
**Why work with us?**
Every man needs to know about the most common cancer in men - prostate cancer. It’s a real and present danger that takes over 12,000 of our dads, grandads, brothers and friends each year.
Prostate Cancer UK is the largest men’s health charity in the UK. We have a simple ambition - to stop prostate cancer damaging lives. We invest millions in research to revolutionise testing, treatment and care. We’re blazing a trail to a screening programme that could save thousands of lives with regular, accurate tests for all men at risk. And we work tirelessly to spread the word about risk and offer specialist support to people living with the disease.
Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we give men and their families the power to navigate prostate cancer.
**What we offer**
Join our team and be part of an award-winning charity. We’ll support you to develop your skills and expertise.
We offer a competitive benefits package, including:
- Generous leave entitlements that increase with service
- One ‘development day’ a month to use for training or personal development
- Enhanced contributory pension scheme
- Life insurance and group income protection
- Health Cash Plan
- Life and wellbeing advice and support via our Employee Assistance Programme
- Discounted gym membership and high street shopping discounts
- Loans for season tickets or cycles
**Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**
At Prostate Cancer UK, we believe that equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to building a strong and innovative workplace, that represents, and can advocate for, the communities we support. It’s our ambition to become an anti-racist organisation, and our mission to advance racial equity in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
**Our people networks**
We’re learning more about the needs of our colleagues, and we’re excited to have recently launched three new people networks, sponsored by our Leadership team:
- Pride - A safe space where LGBTQ+ colleagues — and our allies — can share their diverse lived experiences, celebrate LGBTQ+ culture and history, and create new ideas about how our organisation can be more inclusive and representative of LGBTQ+ people
- Mind & Body - Here to increase awareness, promote wellbeing and support colleagues affected by neurodiversity, mental health problems, disability and long-term illness
- Multicultural - Here to increase awareness and celebrate the different cultures and beliefs that we have in the organisation, so that we all have our cultures felt and feel welcomed
