**About The Death Penalty Project**

The Death Penalty Project is a is a legal action NGO with special consultative status before the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

We provide free representation to people facing the death penalty worldwide, with a focus on the Commonwealth. We use the law to protect prisoners facing execution and promote fair criminal justice systems, where the rights of all people are respected.

We believe the death penalty is a cruel and inhuman punishment that discriminates against the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society. We want to see it consigned to history.

**About **t**he Project** Officer role**

Alongside the rest of our team, you will support the delivery and evaluation of our existing projects, as well as the development of new project proposals, being the main point of contact for our partners and funders and ensuring we meet all of our reporting commitments.

We are looking for someone with a proactive and flexible attitude, who is well organised and can work effectively across several projects at the same time, and who enjoys the challenges of supporting a small and busy team.

**Key responsibilities**
- Coordinate the delivery of ongoing activities and monitor their progress against the set deadlines and objectives, identifying and managing or escalating any risks or issues which may arise
- Ensure regular and effective communication within the organisation as well as externally with project partners and stakeholders
- Draft letters of agreement or memoranda of understanding with project partners and oversee any contracts for services that may be required for the delivery of projects
- Produce and maintain up-to-date project documents/tools such as contacts sheets, project delivery plans and schedules, report distribution lists and others
- Support project communications and outreach, in particular in relation to research publications and stakeholder engagement events
- Produce narrative reports to funders in line with the requirements of grant agreements
- Coordinate project evaluations, develop and implement monitoring and evaluation tools as necessary

**Person specification**:

- Essential_ knowledge, experience and skills- A minimum of two years’ experience in project coordination within the non-profit and/or human rights sector
- Flexible approach to multi-partner projects and ability to manage a high workload and work to tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrable experience in producing project resources, tools and reports
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a small team
- Commitment to and understanding of The Death Penalty Project’s mission and objectives
- D_esirable_ knowledge, experience and skills- Knowledge and understanding of international human rights law/issues
- Experience in managing EU and FCDO projects
