**SEND Teaching Assistant**

Sense Education is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist SEND provision in Kendal.

**As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will**:

- Provide tailored support to students, helping them engage with their learning and develop their unique potential.
- Assist teachers in preparing lessons and provide one-on-one or small-group support to meet individual needs.
- Use alternative communication methods (like Makaton, PECS, or AAC) to support students in expressing themselves.
- Help maintain a positive and structured classroom environment through effective behaviour management strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create an inclusive, nurturing setting where all students can succeed.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- **Qualifications**: A Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). A degree is a plus
- **Experience**: Previous experience working with SEND students is essential.
- **Skills**: Knowledge of alternative communication methods (Makaton, PECS, AAC) and strong behaviour management skills.
- **Attributes**: A patient, empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to support individual learning needs.

**Logistics**:

- **Location**: Work in a specialist SEND provision in the heart of Kendal.
- **Hours**: Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM), with part-time options available.
