Trainee Clinical Coding Auditor

An opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Clinical Coding Auditor post within the Clinical Coding team. Reporting to the Clinical Coding Service and Improvement Manager, the successful applicant will be supported to develop in the role, including relevant training to complete the NHS Digital Clinical Coding Auditor Training to qualify as an NHS Digital Approved Auditor.
They will also work as part of the Clinical Coding Management team to raise the profile of clinical coding with clinical teams by participating in clinical coding awareness programme alongside the Clinical Coding Service and Improvement Manager, Training Manager and Team Leader. In addition the post holder will share Team Leader responsibilities for the Accident and Emergency Coders within the Trust with the Clinical Coding Trainer.

Assist in delivering the Trusts internal Clinical Coding Audit and Assurance Program, which has been devised as part of a wider Clinical Coding Performance Framework to support key work streams within the organisation.
Provide and present regular reports, containing complex clinical coding information to the Clinical Coding Service and Improvement Manager to facilitate the achievement of quality standards.
Communicate all routine and complex Clinical Coding issues/concerns at coding management meetings and suggest possible solutions to problems relating to performance or data quality.
Work with the Clinical Coding Service and Improvement Manager to promote and improve engagement between clinicians and Clinical Coders, discussing clinical coding anomalies, agreeing and documenting outcomes.
Assist the Clinical Coding Trainer in preparing and presenting ‘Clinical Coding’ at the Junior Doctors induction.
