Duke of Edinburgh Team Leader

**This is a permanent part time position for 110 hours per annum.**
**The Role**:
We are currently seeking a Duke of Edinburgh's award Team Leader to develop and deliver the Duke of Edinburgh's award programme within a youth work setting. Following the framework, you will deliver face to face sessions and work online with young peopleto engage and inspire them in completing their award.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Deliver the DofE training programme in accordance with the DofE training framework and Essex policy including tents, safe stove usage, countryside code and emergency procedures.
- Ensure the delivery of high quality programmes to young people in the DofE group
- Manage the provision of a safe and enjoyable DofE programme for participants in the DofE group
- Support participants to decide on their programme choices and set their timescales and goals.
- Regularly encourage participation in chosen activities by participants
- Support expedition team(s) with their expedition planning and arrange for the team(s) to be trained in all of the required areas
- Encourage the use of eDofE by participants, regularly approve uploaded evidence and agree the completion of sections
- Celebrate achievements as often as possible
- Regularly communicate with parents/guardians about DofE group plans/meetings etc.
- Use eDofE to measure the performance of the DofE group and to keep abreast of participation.
- Liaise with the County Coordinator monthly any areas of concerns, discussion topics or queries that come up
- Effectively report on statistics as seen fit by Essex County Council
- Attending training, practice and qualifying expeditions.
- Develop and deliver a programme of imaginative activities, encouraging the active participation and involvement of young people in developing their skills, understanding of others and the world around them within the project or unit of provision. Ensuringthat young people and staff are fully involved in this process
- Facilitate young people's learning and their personal and social development in accordance with the core values of youth work
- If required establish, maintain, and manage resources including staff
- Keep accurate and efficient administrative systems and record keeping
- Promote the programme to ensure that opportunities are accessible to targeted groups/individuals and respond to individual and group needs
- Provide information and data as required
- Take part in the Service supervision scheme and performance management scheme to identify priorities and learning needs, and to be responsible for the learning and development of staff reporting to the post taking account of the performance management process.
**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- A nationally JNC recognised qualification in youth support work, minimum Level 2 (QCF, VRQ, NVQ or Local) with a willingness to undertake a relevant level three qualification
- Award or skills and knowledge in hill walking
- Evidence of recent continuous professional development.
- Experience of working with innovative, social education programmes.
- Ability to develop work with young people to achieve planned outcomes.
- Experience of effective use of resources
- Ability to motivate staff.
- Experience of successfully involving young people in decision making processes.
- Knowledge and experience of youth work methods and techniques.
- Excellent level of numeracy, literacy (GCSE A - C or equivalent or demonstrable experience) and ICT
- Work across Essex as per service needs
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car is essential.
