**Underwriting Team Leader - Hybrid in Basildon**

We’re on the hunt for a talented Underwriting Team Leader to lead and develop our underwriting admin team in our professional fee protection business**. **This pivotal role, reporting to our Underwriting Manager within the business, and offers the flexibility of hybrid working upon completion of your training. You will play a crucial role of managing and underwriting of both new and existing business across our specialist tax fee protection insurance policies. Your efforts will oversee the team’s performance, in service, procedural governance and technical expertise to drive an effective operational team. **What will you do here as an Underwriting Team Leader?**

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:

- Lead and oversee operational underwriting activity for your team including operational governance.
- Provide effective management support across the team to support excellent service delivery for our clients.
- Support the delivery of strong underwriting performance in line with business and partner expectations.
- Work closely with our insurer partners on specific risk referrals and overall binder management.
- Understand and actively manage the achievement of team and business performance metrics.
- Regularly review team members performance, proactively supporting their development through 1-2-1 meetings and annual performance reviews.
- Provide an environment through training, development and oversight that ensures the team maintains a high level of specialist knowledge and understanding of our market.
- Motivate, coach and develop your team members in particular their underwriting skills and procedural awareness.
- Continuously review team process and identifying any ways to improve processes that will benefit both your team and the business. Always ensure a high quality of underwriting activity and adherence to our binder and procedural framework from your team.

**Who we are looking for to be our next Underwriting Team Leader?**
- Ideally Cert CII qualified or working towards would be preferable.
- Experience in people management including motivation, coaching, development and performance management.
- Highly organised and detailed individual with a focus on objectives, priorities and deliverables.
- Comprehensive underwriting knowledge and ability relative to specialist Tax/Legal expenses protection.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability.
- A working knowledge of legal and regulatory Insurance framework.
- Strong understanding of binder guidelines, underwriting authorities, and underwriting processes and standards. Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and organize both team and personal workloads.
