The post holder will work as a Band 8a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist within the Intensive Rehabilitation Service, After COVID -19 Rehabilitation team, working closely with multidisciplinary clinicians and Long-term conditions services, Local Authority, BHRUT and the BHR CCG’s / ICB'S as a clinical specialist physiotherapist.

They will provide rehabilitation for patients with significant and ongoing health needs at 12 weeks post-acute discharge

A 12-week initial review will take place for all patients by a Respiratory Consultant within a post covid clinic for patients admitted to BHRUT with a diagnosis of Covid 19 or those managed in the community +/- first wave diagnosis. There will be reviews with the wider MDT to discuss treatment plans.

They will complete timely onward referrals to other community services including health and social care to ensure the safe management of the patient when completing their rehab episode of care or where it has been identified that patients have more needs than the service can provide.

They will provide supervision, structure, and support to the band 7’s, 6’s and junior members of staff to assist them to achieve optimum rehabilitation potential for patients in the community setting.

We would welcome secondment oppotunities from our colleagues from King Georges Hospital or Queens.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and extremely motivated Physiotherapist to lead our Long Covid Occupational Therapy Team which sits under the Acute Rehabilitation Directorate.

We are looking for a senior therapist who wants an opportunity to not only make a difference within our Boroughs but providing high quality clinical leadership and supervision as well as direct clinical work in your clinical field.

You will also be working with the team on service development and transformation initiatives, be part of reviewing the effectiveness of interventions and service models, and engage in working together with other teams.

You will work as part of a committed, forward-thinking and caring multidisciplinary team, which is co-located with Physiotherapists, Nurses Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and working closely with our Respiratory Clinical Lead Consultant.

- Key Responsibilities:
Leadership

1. To lead a designated team of both occupational and physiotherapy providing leadership for specialist, senior and junior staff and therapy assistants through supervision and performance management.
2. To work in partnership with partners to maximise the experience and outcomes of patients on the After COVID-19 pathway.
3. To prioritise workload, delegate and supervise more junior staff (including students) to aid provision of high standard of patient care.
4. Participate in the development of an effective team and the development of productive working relationships throughout the Trust.
5. To support the management of the Long Covid Therapy Service as required by the Service Manager.
6. To lead on development and change management of the Long Covid Service.
7. To facilitate the development of a positive and ‘supportive’ team culture by taking responsibility for dealing effectively with potential conflict.
8. To take an active interest in working parties and groups within the Trust to develop and improve on service delivery, protocols and guidelines.
9. To participate in the audit process, linking in with the clinical governance agenda.
10. To advise, encourage and share knowledge utilising the latest research and practice development, through literature and peer reviews.
11. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register

Clinical Skills

1. To manage a highly complex case load using advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a patient centred approach.
