**Overview**
We are seeking a confident, dependable person with excellent customer service skills and diplomacy to join Canterbury Business Improvement District and lead our Street Team. You you will be liaising with different types of stakeholders: businesses owners, the local authority, the police and members of the public. You would be able to work on your own and as part of a small team so self-motivation, good sense of humour and strong communication skills will be essential. You will need knowledge of public safety and security, the ability to be patient and remain calm in busy and demanding situations. Interest in the local area, businesses and knowledge of concept of BIDs would be advantageous. The Street Team service will be deployed 7 days a week in shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays, and some later evening / night time shifts, and will be responsible for business liaison and support with the shop / pub watch radio scheme.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead the BID Street Team whilst also fulfilling the role, ensuring the team is fully motivated, trained and briefed to carry out their role.
- Provide a visible, proactive and a reassuring presence in the BID area (Canterbury city centre and the Riverside) through a daily, on-street, branded presence and patrols with a focus on a safe, supportive and welcoming business environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to member businesses and visitors.
- Use the shop / pub watch radios and intelligence system (currently DISC) and the BID’s CRM (customer relationships management) system to report all activity.
- Use the BID’s electrically powered, hand-pulled cleaning machine for top-up cleaning in the BID area and as requested by businesses (where appropriate).
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with BID members, local councils, the Police and other statutory authorities, and partner organisations.
- Report anything that undermines the vibrancy and well-being of the area (litter, graffiti, ASB, crime issues, street drinking, nuisance) following up and monitoring until resolved.
- Liaise with businesses, listening to their concerns and delivering BID messages and materials.
- Be a friendly face and approachable to locals, businesses, tourists and all persons in the area, helping to answer questions and signpost, and providing a reassuring presence.
- Where directed by the BID Ops Manager, undertake tasks to support the area and businesses.

**Requirements**:

- The role requires ongoing patrols on foot across the entirety of the BID area for the majority of the shift. All staff must be able to meet this demand. Duties are mainly performed outside and will include operating an electric street hand-pulled cleaning machine as part of your weekly responsibilities.

- To be aware of and abide by all rules, terms and conditions of the company.

**Strongly desirable**
- A valid SIA (CP, DS or Security) licence
- Basic knowledge of health and safety legislation and local PSPO regulations
- Training / awareness in the areas listed above.

**Hours**:

- 5 days a week with the team working in shifts to cover a 7-day period
- Hours may vary during busy periods and occasional evening working.
