**About the Role**

Our client is looking for a Head of Department - VT who will work primarily on OB locations and in their Greenford OB base together with occasional work at other company locations as necessary to cover programme needs. The Head of Department - VT is expectedto plan for and operate the wide range of broadcast and network equipment and systems deployed in OB Trucks and any other business environments as well as lead a team of VT Guarantees and trainees.
This person is required to work at the highest level of technical complexity under programme and/or operational pressures as well as displaying key team leadership skills whilst delivering an exceptional and personalised service to clients.

**Main Duties**
- Lead the VT operational delivery across outside broadcasts, flyaways and remote productions by overseeing the preparation, maintenance planning and delivery of VT, EVS, Edit and Media Management equipment and systems
- Collaborate with the OB Senior Management Team in the line management of the VT department personnel
- Work in collaboration with the equipment and crew scheduling teams to ensure a clear VT delivery plan of all projects
- Plan for and supervise the rig of equipment in base and on site
- Ensure that technical faults are identified and alternative solutions are implemented if required
- Ensure all customer requirements are tested and back-up systems are in place
- Assist and advise the VT Department in the prepping and planning of jobs
- Advise on and implement the development and testing of new equipment and technologies
- Lead in the training and development of the VT Department and mentor trainees/graduates
- Establish maintenance and fault processes with both the maintenance department and manufacturers
- Assist and advise with build and refurbishment projects

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Broadcast engineering experience
- Experience of leading or delivering broadcasts as part of VT team
- Flexible approach to problem solving and openness to new challenges and alternative solutions
- Knowledge of UHD and HD baseband vision systems and desire to learn about emerging technologies
- Knowledge of video and audio routing systems including EVS (Axon) Cerebrum and VSM
- Knowledge of TCP/IP address systems including configuration of network switches, primarily Dell or Juniper
- Installation, configuration and operation of EVS XT servers and LSM Remotes
- Thorough knowledge of EVS XFile, XSquare, XTAccess servers and IPDirector workstations
- Media Management in small to large scale environments
- Installation and operation of Avid and Premiere edit workstations including network storage
- Clear understanding of the fundamentals of a file-based editing workflows and various file transcoding, processing & delivery systems
- A positive, enthusiastic manner with an ability to react tactfully and sympathetically to requests from your department, the wider OB team and production staff

The job will involve travelling, driving and frequent periods away from home, in the UK or abroad

Shift Pattern: This is a shift-based role that requires regular weekend work.
