Job Scope:
The Individual Giving Officer will be a key member of the Development team, providing crucial administrative and financial support. The post holder will work closely with the head of the team to ensure that our donors receive excellent care and that their contributions are processed efficiently. The role will involve producing compelling fundraising communications, stewarding individual donors, and assisting the team with bespoke stewardship events.

The post holder will be able to provide strong relationship management skills by talking to different teams within the Society, to identify and gather information on new projects that can be funding opportunities for the Development Team. As well as assist the team in organising annual stewardship events for the Society’s Fellows and donors.

The post holder will need to have experience of working in fundraising, and an understanding of good stewardship is essential. The role would suit a self-starter used to working across teams and to multiple deadlines and become an integral part of the Society’s fundraising team, working closely with senior staff and contributing to the team’s collective annual target of approximately £5 million.

**Responsibilities**:
**Finance**
- Undertake all aspects of the receipt, batching, checking, logging and banking of donations to the Society.
- Responsibility for the administration of the Society’s giving mechanisms including CAF and Paypal.
- Preparing quarterly and end of year financial updates on philanthropy income for Development team and senior leadership.
- Completing quarterly gift aid claims.
- Assisting the Development Team Leader with the compilation of budgets and forecasts, processing expenses and invoices, and organising payments.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of philanthropic income with Finance team.

**Donor communications and stewardship**
- Drafting and producing acknowledgement letters for single and regular gifts and other donor communications as required.
- Responsible for handling logistics of donor cultivation and stewardship events.
- Run regular reports to identify lapsed donors.
- Develop relationships with internal teams to identify suitable projects for the Development Team to fund.
- Cultivate and steward prospective and existing individual donors.
- Support the Development Team with collating data for internal and external reporting and invitations to events.
- Organise and represent the Society at events, including assisting the team at developing and delivering regular events, networking with key stakeholders to inspire support of the Society.
- Keeping the Society’s Development pages up to date on our website.
- Maintain and develop the CRM database of all donors; ensuring that donor details and contact timelines are updated.

**Administrative support for of Development Team Leader**
- Providing support to the Development Team Leader in the management of their prospects and donors, including drafting correspondence and briefing materials.
- Coordinating the Development’s Leaders diary, including organising internal and external meetings.
- Making travel arrangements for all overseas trips, including logistics, scheduling, event planning and diary management.
- General administrative support for the Development Team Leader such as drafting meeting minutes and preparing presentations as required.

**Administrative duties**
- Administration of the AFRS, the Society’s overseas charitable entity.
- Providing database and technical support to the Development team.
- Recording information on the database in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with data protection legislation and Royal Society policy and procedures.
- Maintaining an efficient record keeping system for the team, including current and archived files.

Key Knowledge and Skills Required:
