HR & People Officer

**Job Overview**:
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic HR and People Officer to support our HR functions and drive social value initiatives within our construction projects. This role will involve managing HR responsibilities, employee engagement, and social value contributions, ensuring our organisation meets its commitments to the community and workforce development.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Human Resources Duties**:
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
- Support employee relations, including handling queries, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
- Maintain accurate HR records, ensuring compliance with policies and employment legislation.
- Coordinate training and development programmes for employees.
- Assist in performance management processes, including appraisals and feedback mechanisms.
- Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date and effectively communicated.
**Social Value Duties within Construction Projects**:
- Develop and implement social value strategies aligned with project requirements.
- Engage with local communities, schools, and stakeholders to create employment and training opportunities.
- Coordinate apprenticeships, work experience placements, and skills development initiatives.
- Support delivery of corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments.
- Track and report on social value outcomes to clients and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate social value into procurement and supply chain processes.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in an HR role, preferably within construction or a related industry.
- Knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and social value principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in community engagement or social value initiatives is desirable.
- CIPD qualification (or working towards) is advantageous.
