Perforce and Jira Administrator

The P4 (Perforce) and JIRA Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the version control system (P4) and the issue tracking system (JIRA) to support development and project management activities within the organization. This role involves configuring and customising both systems to meet the needs of various teams, ensuring optimal performance, as well as training other members of the IT support team.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. P4 (Perforce) Administration**:
- Install, configure, patch and maintain the Linux operating system on which Perforce is installed.
- Confident in enterprise deployment and understand replication and failover options.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Perforce.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of the Perforce server.
- Implement Perforce server solutions that align with the company disaster recovery plans.
- Provide front-line and backend technical support and troubleshooting for all Perforce-related issues.
- Ensure the integrity and security of source code repositories.
- Develop and maintain documentation for Perforce administration and usage.
**2. JIRA Administration**:
- Install, configure, and maintain JIRA instances.
- Customize JIRA workflows, fields, screens, permissions, and notifications to meet project requirements.
- Manage user accounts, groups, and roles within JIRA.
- Understand how to deliver efficient solutions to align with rapid business change.
- Review online availability and recovery plans for JIRA.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for JIRA-related issues.
- Develop and maintain documentation for JIRA administration and usage.
- Integrate JIRA with other tools and systems as required.
**3. Training and Support**:
- Conduct training sessions for users on P4 and JIRA functionalities and best practices.
- Create and update training materials, guides, and FAQs.
- Provide ongoing support to users, addressing any questions or issues that arise.
**4. Continuous Improvement**:
- Stay updated with the latest developments in P4 and JIRA.
- Evaluate and implement new features or plugins to enhance system capabilities.
- Collaborate with development and project management teams to gather feedback and improve system usage.
**Experience**:
- Proven experience as a P4 (Perforce) and JIRA Administrator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of version control systems, specifically Perforce and the system architecture to support the server environment.
- Extensive experience with JIRA administration, including workflow customization and integration with other tools.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
**Skills**:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Technically capable in a server computing environment
- Ability to evaluate risk, complexities and limitations when configuring and maintaining systems deployed to 1000 users.
**Work Environment**:
- This role may require occasional on-call support and maintenance during off-hours.
- The position can be based remotely or at the company's office.
