**Job summary**:

We are recruiting for a Senior Content Designer to work with the Digital Communications team and colleagues across the organisation to develop website content using content design principles, advocating for user-focused approach and delivering our key messages. You will also develop the skills of the digital team and drive them to deliver high quality content.

To help us achieve our goal of transition to a carbon neutral energy system, you will take on a varied and challenging workload including developing, reviewing, writing, editing and publishing content that meets users’ needs. You will evaluate user journeys, develop our narrative, provide content design expertise and ensure that Ofgem.gov.uk content aligns to business objectives. You will manage and upskill people within the Digital Communications team and increase digital understanding across the organisation by acting as an advocate for the benefits of user centred content design.

You will work directly with the Head of Digital Communications to develop the Ofgem web content strategy and deliver the content transformation of ofgem.gov.uk.

You’ll have the ability to interpret complex content and convert into clear understandable messaging, experience of delivering content that adheres to a content strategy in support of organisation business goals and user needs and an ability to challenge constructively. It’s also crucial you have experience in persuading, mentoring or training others in content design.

**Job description**:
Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. As senior content designer you will be:

- a skilled editor with excellent attention to detail. You will also know how to write simply and clearly, with the user in mind.
- an expert content practitioner, working on high profile online content, making sure it supports other channels including customer contact, news and social media.
- responsible for the timely delivery and quality of content and content strategy across products.
- passionate about using evidence, data and research to make content decisions
- responsible for managing, mentoring and coaching content colleagues
- leading on new content projects and working collaboratively to deliver our content transformation

You will need to deliver your expertise with genuine enthusiasm and an attention to detail that enables colleagues to better understand the diverse needs of our users and improve user experience on our website.

**Person specification**:
The essential criteria for this role is:

- Significant content design experience with proven ability to create online content that is accessible and user-centred. (LEAD**)**:

- Experience in persuading, mentoring or training teams in content design. (LEAD**)**:

- Experience of delivering content that adheres to a content strategy in support of organisation business goals and user needs
- Ability to interpret complex content and convert into clear understandable messaging which helps users achieve their goals and supports wider communications.
- Ability to challenge constructively, using data to support your position, whilst being able to compromise where appropriate to create effective content which meets the interests of both internal and external customers.

The desirable criteria for this role is:

- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work calmly even when faced with fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
- Understanding of social media and wider communications channels, integrating content into wider campaigns.
