**Job Title**
Senior Residential Support Worker
**Responsible to**
Registered Manager & Deputy Manager
**Job Profile**
To be responsible to the Registered Manager as part of the staff team and for the direct day-to-day care of the children and young people in the home.
To work in line with the Quality Standards 2015.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Professional child care practice**
- To provide child-centred care in a warm, nurturing environment to help the children within the progress;
- To manage the home effectively in the absence of the manager;
- To effectively leads shifts, direct, and support the staff team;
- To supervise staff and manage individual and team performance to ensure a standard of excellent service delivery;
- To ensure the effective monitoring and control of all expenditure accounted for in accordance with financial procedures;
- To manage health and safety processes in the home, including the implementation and monitoring of risk assessments;
- To support the induction process of new staff;
- To model a robust commitment to safeguarding, actively promoting the welfare of children and young people in Olive Tree Residential Care Ltd.’s care;
- To contribute to the normal development of the children through the provision of a healthy lifestyle in order to enable them to reach their fullest potential by providing a variety of stimulating activities and a consistent and caring adult model;
- To work with consistent boundaries in order to create safety for the children in the homes;
- To be a positive role model for children and colleagues, and encourage both to develop meaningful relationships and attachments;
- To be alert to signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that children are monitored and protected, and have their needs met, ensuring that all safeguarding procedures are accurately followed;
- To be aware of children’s rights, and to work in an anti-discriminatory and anti
- oppressive manner;
- To work alongside children to help them develop a true sense of identity and feeling of self-worth;
- To be sensitive to the needs of individual children, taking account of race, culture, language, sexuality and religion;
- To engage, communicate, talk and listen to the children. To observe their behaviour and record significant features;
- To liaise, where necessary, with other professionals i.e. teachers, social workers, etc.;
- To support children to integrate into social activities and education;
- To use responsive strategies to support the behaviour of children who are unable to manage their own behaviour;
- To assist in preparation for reviews and meetings and attend when required;
- To contribute to care planning and the implementation of these plans;
- To work alongside other professional agencies to enable effective integration of care;
- To work with children their families / carers to ensure the child’s successful integration back into the family if / when placed back in their home;
- To be a key worker of a child where designated;
- To maintain work practice in line with the company’s policies and procedures;
- To be up to date and adhere at all times with legislation to ensure good practice;
- To undertake sleep in duties as appropriate;
- To undertake routine administrative tasks and provide written reports and maintain children’s files as required by the company’s policies and procedures;
- To compile reports, including Review, Progress and Incident reports;
- All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company.
**Relationships with colleagues**
- To act as a member of the staff team, supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support and advice as necessary;
- To participate in team meetings;
- To act flexibly, within reasonable bounds, in order to ensure the necessary outcomes for children;
- To ensure effective outcomes for children;
- To support less experienced staff from time to time as part of their program of induction to the work and operation of the home in conjunction with the company’s policies and procedures;
**Household responsibilities**
- To share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the home to the highest standard;
- To set the highest standard in home making;
- To take ownership of the home, including the fabric, equipment and grounds;
- To be accountable for monies allocated for specific purposes where appropriate;
- To ensure the children have a balanced diet;
- To adhere to Health and Safety regulations and procedures;
**Personal responsibilities**
- To keep abreast of good practice in order to develop skills, knowledge, and experience in accordance with your personal development plan;
- To be able to take responsibility for your own personal development;
- To make use of regular supervision;
- To develop an understanding of Olive Tree Residential Care Ltd.’s whistleblowing and grievance policies.
