abrdn Discretionary is looking for an Investment Writer to join its Proposition & Governance team. Reporting to the Head of Proposition, the role is responsible for writing, editing, and delivering investment content of a promotional, educational and technical nature. This content will reflect fund or market developments for a number of projects and campaigns, and the focus is to support and drive capability awareness of Discretionary abrdn investment solutions.

The Investment Writer will build compelling, emotionally engaging, accurate and incisive copy, being sensitive to the needs of different readerships, while ensuring consistency to the content that supports the attainment of our overarching brand objectives. They will work closely with the team's Client Communications Specialist.

The position needs someone who can distil complex information into easy-to-understand and insightful content. A strong grasp of financial concepts, and simplifying them for our clients and other stakeholders is vital. This relies on a good understanding of investment strategies and markets, our funds, key promotional messages, our Responsible Investment approach and emerging investment themes.

**Role responsibilities**:

- Produce compelling content that champions Discretionary, abrdn capabilities and propositions working closely with the Investment Team, Distribution and where appropriate external partners. Aim to place us at the forefront of industry thinking and help increase overall brand awareness.
- Production of fact-based investment communications. Make sure that technical information is articulated clearly and appropriately for different audiences. Make sure all investment content is accurate and aligned with both customer expectations and business strategy. Cut through the noise of financial markets to determine what matters most and why to clients.
- Deliver investment-themed articles and market updates for their intended audiences, both internal and external; investment content to support marketing campaigns; reports to support Proposition and asset allocation changes.
- Work closely with the Investment Team to write, edit, and deliver regular and ad hoc investment content of a promotional, educational and technical nature.
- Carry out independent research to identify and analyse important trends, and opportunities to ensure the integrity of all investment and fund related communications.
- Support our ambition to be market leader in Responsible Investment through regular communications, working closely with our Investment team with Discretionary, abrdn, colleagues in the Investments Vector and Marketing.
- Information gathering and managing to ensure the efficient use of available material. Must be able to spot opportunities to publicise relevant information and re-purpose content where appropriate.
- Work in partnership with the Investment team to understand their requirements and provide relevant, timely, tactical information to help educate, inform and update clients and their advisers on our investment strategies and other relevant information.
- Through reading, attending meetings and talking to SMEs in the Investments team and at our external fund manager partners, keep up-to-date with market developments and convert this knowledge into ideas and activities that support our distribution strategy.
- Focus on delivering Content within the agreed risk management framework as aligned to financial promotions. Includes appropriate technical sign off, making sure corporate guidelines and processes are adhered to.

**Role requirements**:

- Proven experience of writing and reviewing investment communications to meet business and marketing objectives. Deep understanding of engaging audiences through compelling content.
- Strong language, content ideation, prioritisation, copywriting, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to translate often complex and technical information into content that’s engaging and relevant for our audiences.
- Good knowledge of investments, financial markets, trends and issues. Knowledge of discretionary investment management.
- Understanding of social media practices, including which content and approaches work.
- Demonstrable ability to engage with and maintain good relationships with wide range of collaborators.
- Digitally savvy with a strong understanding of Content production and promotion across digital media.
- Experience of managing high volume workflow within tight delivery timeframes.
