**Job Purpose Statement**
We are looking for a CG analyst with 8+ proxy seasons experience to join our team to support our proxy voting and engagement with European companies (incl UK) and to contribute globally to sector coverage of ESG research and engagement (ideally with a focuson either financials or real estate).
In the role, you will be responsible for engaging at a senior level on corporate governance and broader ESG issues with companies we or our clients invest in. You will also be responsible for written and verbal communication of your engagement including theproduction of thought leadership and presentations to clients. **Role Responsibilities**
**Research, voting & engagement**:
- Engage at a senior level with companies on ESG issues, with a particular focus on Corporate Governance in Continental European markets, and the UK
- Support policy development and process management for proxy voting in Europe, incl the UK
- Research and execute votes at shareholder meetings
- Contribute to the integration of ESG factors in the investment management process, conducting analysis of ESG risks and opportunities in allocated sector coverage, working closely with fund managers and investment teams.
- Execute proxy voting for allocated markets, incl FM consultation
**Communication & reporting**:
- Produce high-quality written work including writing up individual company meetings and ESG thematic research to contribute to thought leadership output.
- Preparing CG-linked materials to promote the Responsible Investment team/BMO GAM in the wider ESG marketplace
- Represent the team in various industry networks, and industry working groups
- Present externally as needed to clients and in industry groups on themes and industries and internally to assist in education of the wider business on the issues

**Key Capabilities**:
- 8+ years relevant experience in Corporate Governance and proxy voting, ideally across European markets (incl UK), and good awareness of the relevant political, economic and governance context;
- Company engagement experience, particularly regular interaction with board Chairs, directors, CEOs;
- Experience of working with portfolio managers on ESG topics;
- An ability to work autonomously and take ownership, but also able to work effectively as part of a broader team with a strong sense of collaboration to achieve shared goals.
**Desired Capabilities**:
- Some specific sector or issue knowledge is desired, gained through professional and/or academic work. In particular, we are looking to build further expertise in the financial sector as well as real estate (either/or).
- A good network in the CG, investment, and pension fund community.
