Together we’re shaping/creating a cleaner, greener future for our 11 million customers who we put at the heart of everything we do. **About The Role** Every day is different The focus of this role is to create, lead and manage a team of asset engineers who create asset strategies that support our long term plan, encompassing the investment, risk and security of supply surrounding performance of our Highpressure and low pressure gas assets across our regions. The plan needs a "can do " approach - expansive thinking and ensure that multiple options are examined and evidenced. The plan is shared with the likes of Ofgem and HSE to justify funding to the Cadent network to ensure supply security, repair, upgrades and replacement costs along with reduction of methane and carbon emissions are shown to balanced, planned and effective - thus minimising financial risk and waste, and making best use of funding for future protection. Essentially the plan shows our approach to a long term asset of vital importance and justification for funding to make it viable. This involves advising the investment needed to convert the network to hydrogen, keeping an open and informed mind to ensurewe are right first time - thus ensuring mínimal rework which would result in budget loss. You will pass on knowledge in an organised way, whilst managing the performance of team members, identify opportunities for their own and team’s development, promote effective team working and competence development whilst ensuring adherence to company policy,aims and objectives. **Key Accountabilities** - Accountable for the creation and embedding of Asset Management Strategies and the delivery of the associated Asset Strategy Plans in order to achieve Cadent’s objectives and meet our regulatory commitments. - Accountable for asset class strategies that will set the basis and engineering justification for future business plans by optimising the balance of cost, risk and performance of the gas distribution network assets in line with our customer and stakeholderexpectations - Lead a team of Asset Strategy Engineers and work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including Network Investment Planning teams to deliver an industry leading Asset Management function. - Lead and support projects to improve Cadent’s Asset Management Maturity - Accountable for the agreed asset decision support frameworks to optimise delivery of the business plan - Build partnerships and strong relationships with Investment Planning Offices providing guidance to support SAMP and NAMP development **About You** Ideally with an inquisitive and analytical mind, you will have a background in Asset Management at a mid to senior level of expertise. Maybe you come from a similar industry? Energy. Water, Rail, Highways or other or you have an established Consultancy background? Either way - come and talk. You will be confident in working with key stakeholders both internal and external, providing justification of requirements with strong evidence gained from data within this environment. Strong presentation skills are essential as you will in essence ensure we bid effectively and professionally for the funding required to ensure all is good in Cadent Gas. **Additional Accountabilities**: Using the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) model for Asset Management, the post holder will: - Be accountable for the development and implementation of long-term Asset Management Strategies which recognises existing regulatory commitments and aligns to Cadent’s overall Asset Management Policy (G/30) and Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) - Be accountable for the development of relevant Decision Support Frameworks to support delivery of asset strategies and ensure consistent decision making for investment within the networks - Be accountable for the development of a long-term investment plan to deliver relevant the Asset Strategies, including the evaluation of investment options using whole life costing principles, the approach for acquiring new assets and contingency planning - Be accountable for articulating a value definition for Cadent’s asset base - Develop strategic direction for capability building and skills required within the Asset Management function, including the culture and competence requirements of the team - Assess and provide assurance to the Head of Strategic Networks of the progress and performance against plan of asset strategies including risk identification and mitigation. - Close liaison with relevant local Investment Planning Offices to understand delivery against plan to ensure the strategies are effective - Ensure by effective stakeholder engagement that the Asset Management Strategies are deliverable and that the business plan is aligned to both financial requirements and resource constraints - Be responsible for working with the Asset Data team, and the Investment Planning Offices to drive improved asset data for effective asset decision-making - Contribute to the development of Cadent’s Asset Management Policy (G/30) and overall Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) - Support the resolution of any relevant internal/external audit actions - Support the development and take a leading role in the Cadent Asset Management Community of Practice (IAM based principles) - Support the ongoing accreditation of ISO55001
