**About The Role**

The Compliance Specialist is a critical line management role in ensuring and demonstrating safe working on site for the prevention of harm, and ensuring engineering compliance and long term integrity of cadent assets.

The successful applicant will be responsible for promoting optimum efficiency and compliance. They will deliver and take ownership of a specialist service whilst driving and delivering brilliant customer service in line with expectations, operating at alltimes with a sense of purpose.

Key aspects of the role include utilising accurate data to drive initiatives to improve performance; whilst designing, driving, and ensuring delivery to key improvement initiatives. Championing knowledge share and continual improvement throughout.

The role holder will be trusted to deliver a quality and specialist experience, always acting responsibly and communicating clearly, along with driving and implementing required H&S at all times reducing risk to colleagues, customers and stakeholders.

**Functional Accountabilities**

The safety and assurance function support responsibility for the Assurance, Risk, Health & Safety and Compliance activities across Cadent West Midlands Operations. They provide advice, support and specialist knowledge for all associated related activitieswithin the West Midlands Network providing a framework for wider compliance and continual improvement.

**Specialist Accountabilities**
- Plan, control and ensure the delivery of compliance and quality assurance inspections on Cadent operations and assets
- Ensuring management, delivery and of network-based construction Compliance
- Ensure the relevant construction activities within each workstream are being correctly delivered
- in accordance with Cadent policies and the relevant safety management systems, and
- that technical aspects of Operational activities are executed in line with Cadent policies and industry guidance.
- Support relevant incident investigations,
- Monitor and report trends identified from site monitoring.
- Ensure the ongoing development of site compliance and quality assurance practices and requirements
- Ensure that all parties working on Cadent assets are operating within the policy boundaries in terms of technical and safety requirements and make suggestions in the definition of engineering, safety and data policies.
- Contribute to the process of sharing initiatives and innovation across Cadent and its partners to optimise performance across all Cadent projects.
- Ensure adherence to Cadent requirements and verification of operational and process safety and security policies being effectively applied.
- Effectively manage annual work programmes and oversee the development of long-term work programmes to ensure all work is appropriately scheduled and deliver efficiency improvements in plan execution
- Develop and lead a process to identify relevant data for delivery of a suite of reports required to monitor Safety performance and the operation of the Compliance Officers.
- Ensure data management policy with respect to safety and engineering quality is implemented and that data recording with respect to safety within Cadent Operations and its partners is appropriate and complete.
- Management and development lead for the web-based data to ensure accurate MI is available.
- Contribute to the review and oversight of the delivery of annual work programmes and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of workloads via the Strategic Partners Supervisory Board and various safety forums.
- Monitor and manage performance V devise relevant service level agreements assess performance against them.
- Ensure competent Compliance Officers are appropriately trained in safety & engineering.
- Contribute to the development of safety KPIs for Cadent and its partners.
- Line management responsibility for the West Midlands team of Compliance Officers.

**About You**
- Extensive operational site experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Cadent processes and systems at operational level including technical and operational requirements (standards, polices etc)
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams and influencing a contractor at senior level and gaining support and commitment from a wider operational group.
- Leading, engaging and managing multiple people at different levels across different geographic locations.
- An understanding of external good practice, e.g. HSE documents.
- Clear and confident communicator (verbal and written) with business acumen and ability to adapt communication style in given situations.
- Proven experience of managing performance against SHES standards.
- Good IS capabilities (excel, power point & word, share point, web portals). #
